Hey there,
Excellent tips!
In my opinion, number 1 is so important its worth mentioning twice.
Lucid dreaming is a form of dreaming, so learning to simply dream is a must.
Disregarding your dreams, or worse, seeing them as failures for not being lucid, is sort of like rejecting walking because you're trying to learn to run. You're only going to fall flat on your face if you do

... or, to end the analogy and go back to dream terms, create dry spells. Work constructively with your dreams. The more attention you pay them and the more constructively you work with them, the easier the road to awareness during dreams will become.
Its possible to get some quick and erratic successes now and then, but if you want to pave the road to frequent and consistent awareness in dreams, you have to get familiar with your entire dreamscape, not just the lucid dreams. And on that path, every remembered dream helps you to reach that goal

.
Just my 2 cents,
