How long should you be awake for FILD to work after waking up?

After I wake up from FILD I stay up for around 8 minutes and during that time, I tend to splash a little water on myself since I need to do an ablution. Could this affect my FILDing?

      Hey there,

With any WILD, FILD or DEILD technique, the trick is to find the right balance between being too awake and not awake enough. The first will make it hard for you to fall back asleep, the second will make you lose consciousness and enter a normal dream.

However, the only one that can find that balance is you. Its different for everyone. Some people need only a few minutes, others need half an hour. Some need to get out of bed, some don't. Additionally, not only does it vary from person to person, but even for just one person, it will vary from night to night as well. So experiment around, try things, and after a while you will develop a feeling for when you're there, on that edge, right between too much and not enough.

      Good luck!
