Any idea where I'm going wrong?

Hi, I'm kinda new to Dreamviews. I've been trying to lucid dream for the past month (Spent a week building up dream recall and I've identified some dreamsigns). I do a RC around five times a day, and it's usually just looking around at my environment and really asking myself, "Where am I? What am I doing here?" because a lot of my dreams take place in unfamiliar situations. It's become almost a habit now. Recently, I've been trying CAT with no success. I take about an hour and a half to fall asleep.

Sorry for the wall of text.

      Welcome, Meiko.
It isn't really that long of a post, so no need to apologize. I went a bit off-topic, but i hope you keep these things in mind:

You are starting off correctly if you have been working on your dream recall and getting used to RC's.

I know that you don't RC a lot, but this is important enough to mention:
RCs aren't about mere frequency. I would say that the quality of your RC process is more important than how many times you do it.
As such, you don't have to RC all the time. It becomes nothing more than a confirmation process once self-awareness kicks into the dreamer's mind and he/she gains a momentary clarity which prompts him/her to RC.

Practically, it is better to RC whenever you start suspecting if you are dreaming or if something IRL confuses you.

You should keep a relatively stable sleep schedule every night.
Along with this, you can perform a Wake Back To Bed at around 6 hours after you initially slept. WBTBs are very easy and effective for many people, me included.

From my experience, i do suggest that you don't jump between techniques all the time.
If CAT is difficult to perform, then don't shy from doing something more comfortable and suitable to yourself.

      So to summarize my suggestions:
      - RCs should be done intently and quality is more important than quantity.
      - Keeping a stable sleep schedule will help.
      - You can try WBTB, it's an easy method.

I think you're off to a good start. I think I took longer than a month to get my first LD but its hard to tell what date I consider as having started trying.

One thing that helped me was reading lots of other peoples LD stories. Since I was not familiar with the experience myself, it helped me start to get a sense of what it would be like.

Like they say just "keep coming back" to the forums and tutorials and such and asking questions as you go. Know or "have faith" that eventually your efforts will result in attaining lucidity. In fact, I remember thinking I would never succeed at LD after many attempts. But then one day it happened! And I don't even understand why because I don't do anything perfectly.
