Sounds to me like you got very close. I have had something similar happen to me when I once had a false awakening and then looked at a digital clock near my bed and the time said "7:77" and I had a brief moment of thinking that was odd but dismissed it since I was also panicking that I was then late for class or whatever my morning routine was at the time. I'd say the more you think about odd yet almost mundane occurrences will allow you to recognize when they happen again and trigger an awareness of the situation and perhaps lucidity as well.
