Question How to Have More Engaging Reality Checks

I have a question about having more... meaningful, engaging, motivational reality checks?

I find after about three months I am losing motivation to do my reality checks and they are no longer even showing up in my dreams. However, a conversation that I'll have with someone for one or two days immediately shows up in my dreams. I feel like my reality checks are no longer... strong enough to motivate or to 'entertain' my brain... if this makes any sense at all. I really try to look around, use all of my senses to take in as much of the scene as I can. I don't assume I am awake. I perform two reality checks and then if I decide that I am not dreaming I ask myself what would it be like if I were dreaming?

Is there a way I can make my reality checks just as interesting for my subconscious as other things? I am also looking for videos on YouTube for the Benefits of Lucid Dreaming and things of this topic to try to generate more motivation for myself. Any suggestions or advise you all have is greatly appreciated!

Hey awalker54, I understand your issue as I, too, for a little while now too have been experiencing this decline in what feels like the meaning and weight of my reality checks. What I have read here on Dreamviews is to take a little time off of RCing or possibly even alternate days between RCing and mindfulness or awareness.

Fortunately, I think that we can still get lucid without having as many RCs if we increase our awareness and work on our induction techniques. It seems RCs are best employed after lucidity is attained. I'm thinking that as long as we can get lucid, the reality checks are good for confirming and maintaining lucidity. I'm even struggling with maintaining a meaningful level of awareness throughout the day. I'm really hoping to get back on the right track.

I'm hoping some others with chime in here and give us both some good advice that makes something click for us!

Personally, I say screw reality checking, prospective memory exercises are better to help you reprogram the subconscious mind, and to have direct impact with putting something on your unconsicous/subconscious mind.

Thanks for the input, Skipper1100. I've mostly limited my RCs to when something strikes me as particularly odd. Those instances seem to be the only way I can mentally attach enough meaning to the RC where I feel it in the right way, if that makes sense.

Hey Zelcrow! What are some things that you are doing to maintain your awareness? Maybe these are some exercises that I can adopt or can you point me in the right direction of a place here on the forum where I can read up more on things that would help me in this area?

Hello Skipper! What do you mean by prospective memory exercises?
