Why sleep when you can dream?

I like to walk around and just imagine its a dream. As for lighting, Im kind of experimenting with that myself. Im thinking turning the lights on might help distinguish wakig time and sleeping time, which helps me go to sleep again. But on the other hand, turning on the lights might wake me uo too much. Theres no one right way to do things. Just have to experiment with it and see what works.

Well, last night I tried WBTB for the very first time. (I've been too lazy to get up in the middle of the night) I went to sleep at 11, got myself up at around 4:30. I surfed DV for a while, glancing over the turorial and this thread, as well as others. I returned to bed at 5:00, and as I was going to sleep, I just told myself that I will realize I'm dreaming, and that I will acheive lucidity. I didn't see any HI or anything, I just fell asleep. The most I remember is waking up in the night, and trying to do a RC, but I could hardly move my arm. It was a struggle to get my hand to my nose, but I after I did, I discovered I was dreaming and could move freely. It worked!
It is odd that all my lucids have began by me being in my bed, and in my room. So it is always in darkness, but this time I remembered to turn on a light. I have a lamp by my bed, (which isn't even plugged in) but in my dream I reached over and grabbed it, and zapped power into it, and it turned on. Sadly, that was about the extent of my powers in this dream. I couldn't do much, infact, my door wouldn't latch closed, and I tried to keep it closed with my powers but it didn't work. I also couldn't spawn any DCs, so I spent the majority of this dream, trying to think of what to do. (guess I should make a list before-hand) But just for fun I broke my window, partly in frustration, and since it didn't matter anyways. I had my mind set on talking to a DC, but I just couldn't make/find one. One funny thing was I thought about the clock RC, and wanted to see what my clock would do, and funny enough, it actually had french instead of numbers. (On je ouvre)
Which really doesn't make much sense, but is funny anyways. It actually means, one(as in oneself, not the number), so "One I open"

Anyways, so much for my dryspell!

In answer to my own question, I tried this on a night when I had to awake at 7, my dream ended at about 630, so I briefly fell back asleep, and had no trouble waking up. I did however feel a little more tired than normal. Not to say it was not worth it, but It will make you a little sleepy in the morning.

Any help with the DC Thing? I tried to just close my eyes and expect it to be there, but it didn't ever work.

Next time open a door. I promise there will be a dream character on the other side waiting for you.

      Pretty much.

I did open a door, however since I was in an environment I already knew (my house), I already "knew" what was on the other side of my bedroom door. I guess it has to be an "unknown" door. But If I'm in my house, then what do I do? I'm kind of skeptical of dream spinning to change environments and stuff, because I've lost a lot of lucidity in doing this. Especially when I have a high lucidity level, like my recent LD, I hate to lose it. I just remember how real it seemed, in fact, everytime before I would do something stupid, I would do a reality check to confirm I was dreaming. Weird.

My main problem with WBTB which has worked a couple times in the past is that I always get too awake. I used to sleep like 14+ hours a day (before i started LDing) and then I got on Wellbutrin which I've heard increased dream memory which is what got me started on this hobbie. The thing is that Wellbutrin gives a sort of energy boost to help me sleep less and I often do fine with six hours of sleep and when I wake up, and I am just fine and it makes it hard getting back to sleep. Also, what are your views on caffine? I've heard mixed opinions. Some say it wakes your brain up enough to remember dreams, but other say it only inhibits them.

PS: for those of you who love lucid dreaming that would kill for 14+ hours of sleep, I almost never dreamed during that time. Bare in mind I wasn't into lucid dreaming, but I still think if your that tired you won't do as well. Depression caused it for me and when your depressed it makes it hard to care about or do anything.

      My WBTB experience this night:

I went to my room at about 10:30pm, Played some guitar, then meditated -lol tried, I never did it before but I did had a nice feeling about it, claming me down.- Then I went to bed. I think I told myself I would remeber my dream to much, becouse when I woke up I remeberd nothing <=/

However, I did woke up, at 5:30am, funny becouse I set my alarm at 5:45. I allso had a FA I Think, that I was putting off my alarm, but I am not sure.

Anyhow, I got up, walked around, went to the toilet. Then walked aroudn in my room. Read my dream Journal. Then went to sleep again after 10 mins in total. I was really tired. I closed my eyes and tried some wild. I once already saw some weird colors, however now I saw nothing.

Only a few times I saw some patters, but I would get exited and they would go away again. =( Anyhow, my mind did get more and more into sleeping. I saw images moving before my eyes, only I saw blurs, I saw less then blurs. I just saw colors for 1 second.

I allso had weird toughts. As weird as dreams, they came to me sort of. I allready was counting '1 I'm dreaming, 2 I'm dreaming ect.'. And while I saw those weird things or had weird thoughts I would lose count. '1 I'am dreaming, 21 I'm dreaming, 1 I'm dreaming'.

However I never had some persistend weird-images-or-thoughts-or-stuf...

However then I heard a hard sound in one ear, it was loud and felt like it was in my ear, It was as if I could feel those drum-thingies in my ears, and feel and hear the blood flowing though them, amplified by 100.

However everytime I heard the sounds (in 1 ear btw I think, weird) I would get exited/focus and would lose it. After 2-3 times I gave up I think, maybe I just went to sleep. I am not sure.

I had/have the feeling I didn't sleep a second more that night. But maybe it just felt like it.. I don't remember anything thats for sure.

But maybe WILD does have some potential for me, since I did hear the sounds. Some one has any adivice how to get it all the way?

I am dissapointed, but allso exited becouse something Did happen =)
