The tongue to roof of mouth is some what described here –

The first time I tried I woke up; however, became successful at a later time. The key thing I was interested in was my feeling(s) during this period in the LD. There is something I cannot describe rationally, but is a clear alertness during the dream when performing this technique. Again, no one has confirmed this….
The positioning yourself in the same position technique seems to bring-on dream realism, but in my dreams I sometimes think that I wake-up (meaning that I feel that I wake up in my bed), not realizing that I am really still in dreamtime and then I tend to fall back to normal dreaming . I wake up feeling like I blew-it, but try again another day.
Once, I had multiple LDs with this technique, and on what seemed to be another awakening (4th time) I walked out of my bed and arrived at my mother staring at me in the kitchen in silence, only to then realize that I was actually awake walking around my house. One of those moments she thought I was high on something I guess…
Anyway give them a try, let me know what you experience. I find a realness closer to our everyday world, where you can bump into things instead of floating through them.
It’s strange but when ever I do that same position technique I end up waking up from the actual place I fell asleep, then I start my LD journey from there, until the cycle starts again.
good luck!

I know what you mean about the alertness, I think! The only time I seem to get this is when I try spinning, and end up bashing into stuff! I think this must be a much less painful, quick method so I shall try to use it instead, in future xD I've never tried the falling asleep technique though, and it sounds like a great way to find somewhere that actually exists, to try new things in, or see from other angles, nice and quick! Perhaps it's also a good way to stabilise an LD, when you're just about to wake too? False awakenings galore I'm gonna try it out!
