can someone drop me a hint on Realtiy Checks?!

Okay. So I wear a digital watch. Every hour when it beeps, I check it, then I re-check it to see if the numbers are different or skewed. I look at my hands and ask. I pull my finger to see if it stretches, I hold my nose to see if I can still breathe. I look around reality to see if there's anything ridiculous about...all of these things seem futile

I perform various reality checks throughout the day....then at night, my dreams are INSANELY strange. One would think I' d atleast at some point do a reality check in my dream and then realize i'm dreaming, but that never happens.

what am i doing wrong? can a negative attitude attribute to my failures with Reality Testing? should I be more sincere with testing? should I include positive affirmations? what in the holy hell am i doing wrong?

Well, if you don't believe you are going to succeed then you're basically screwed. Also, you can't unconsiously do them, you have to be thinking about the check. Believing is everything, but it does take time for reality checks to transfer to your dreams. If you do reality checks I am pretty sure it takes somewhere between 1 and 3 weeks (sorry, I don't remember the details) to kick in and really transfer to your dreams. Just keep at it and you WILL succeed. I am no expert, and am just starting to try to really do RCs, but from what I understand if you keep at it with a good attitude, eventually it starts working well. Personally I think you should read some stuff expert dreamers feel to get inspired, some of their experiences are really amazing. Just keep at it and have fun, even if a dream is really weird, it can still be really awesome.

maybe you should focus your RC on checking for odd things happening. Like, you can make an effort to check for something unusual at everyplace you go to throughout the day the moment you arrive.

      ex:
work - do i know anyone here from my past? is anyone here a celebrity?
car - is this normal weather for where I live? is the sky blue like normal?
home - Is anything different about my house? Are these the people i really live with?

I'm going to start testing the vibrating watch, that seems excellent.

Reality checks during the day and while your sleep as long as it doesnt wake you up. Sounds like fun!

They sometimes do take a while to kick in, but there are other factors that can affect them, too. For one thing, it's important that whenever you do an RC, don't be flippant about it and be like, "Oh, it didn't work; I'm not dreaming." Really take the time to look around and be sure that you're dreaming or not. Then, purposefully tell yourself, "Yes, I am dreaming," or "No, I'm not dreaming because..."

Another thing can just be the fact that you're doing an RC on the hour when you hear your watch beep. It's a good idea to maintain consistency, but you're just training yourself by the watch and the watch is what you'll be paying attention to. I never hear mine in my dreams and for some reason I rarely look at it. Again, it's good for consistency, but it's also good to train yourself to look around and be mindful of what's going on, so you'll be more apt to recognize when something is out of place.
