Meditating, but not whilst trying to induce an LD.

Hey, I used to meditate quite a lot. Just to relax myself and let my brain do what it wants and maybe let me know how to solve some problems if needed.

What I would do is sit somewhere soft, and get myself in a comfortable position. I close my eyes and try to stay aware of my surroundings aswell as relaxing. I do nothing, I just sit and let my brain do whatever it does. I listen to my own thoughts as they change randomly as thoughts seem to do). But what I do is try and see the connection in my thoughts. See what similarities my thoughts have in order to see why my grain started thinking another subject.

Kind of how when you are having a deep conversation with someone close to you, you sometimes find yourself sayingn, "how the hell did we start talking about this!?" but if you think back, something sparked it off from a different subject.

I do not do this in relation to attaining Lucidity, what i am basicly asking; is this a good method? Will it help with my LDs? Even though it is not part of a technique, as it is seperate.

      Thank you.

I think any soft of meditation is great, period. The brain sometimes can really use the time out. Thinking time, quite time etc, its all good. I think brain tune-up can greatly assist in your focus for lucid training, I don't think the technique really matters as long as it works for you. I wouldnt want too many thoughts moving around although, the more still your mind is the better. I'm on a new path recently to start using (sound) entrainment to mediate at least once a day; even just for better health reasons. Not just for lucidity but it will also help! Meditation has many great rewards it seems.

hmm, sounds good. Thanks for the reply. I read about my technique somewhere. It basicly just makes me feel extremely relaxed yet aware afterwards. I've tried using sound before, but I found it too distracting. But, it works for a lot of people. In fact, I've heard it's one of the best ways.

I don't have that many thoughts, it starts off as one thought, then that sparks off another, making the first thought disappear. Then, like I said, I make a connection to the previous thought, working out what aspect of the the first thought made me conjure up the second one, and then repeat. I've tried a few other methods, but I quite like this one.

The only thing I hate is that I feel extremely dizzy afterwards, but the doctor said that I have a problem where when I get up too fast, (or sometimes getting up in general) from a sitting or laying position...my blood pressure hightens too fast, causing me to go very dizzy, and at one point (after meditation) lose my sight for a couple of seconds. But it's apparently normal...It doesn't feel it though lol

*yay @ 100th post...even though I should have way more considering how long I've been joined for lol*

^^^ I think you should drink more water. How many water do you drink? You should at least 2,5 liters a day.

Well during meditation your blood pressure will lower, as well as your heart rate and body temperature, so it's perfectly normal that you feel dizzy if you get up suddently (and sometimes a little chilly).
To avoid this, after you end up your meditation, just open your eyes, stretch your legs (considering you cross them during meditation) and stay like that for 1-2 minutes, then you won't feel dizzy when getting up.

And about sounds, it really depends on what kind of sound you use. I usually use rain sounds, or forest sounds, there's plenty of those mp3 around. But it's just because I often hear people talkin' on my street, which is kind of distracting.

ah, that's good advice, thank you...I will try it next time.

and yeah, Whilst I'm meditating, I will hear a bang from the neighbours and it will totally throw me. I might try rain sounds, as I actually enjoy listening to rain when it is raining, and it would drown out (mind them pun lol) the sounds of othr people.
