I was running around peeing.. then i went into the bathroom and there was a girl (my friend) standing there peeing in the urinal. I thought..damn, this seems like a dream. I did a nose rc but didnt go lucid.

later on in the dream i went lucid with a nose check. but that is besides the point.

      anyone get this ever?

Weird. Were you not able to breathe through your nose? Cause if you really couldn't breathe through your nose that would be understandable that you didn't go lucid. If you did breathe through your nose that is strange. Maybe when you do RC's in the day do this. Do your RC, then when you can't breathe through your nose say in your mind "I am not dreaming because I did not breathe through my nose." On a similair note, in one dream I became lucid though the nose RC, but wanted to be absolutely sure I was dreaming. So I tried to put my finger through my hand (I heard about that RC on here), but it never worked. I even tried it a few times and it never worked.
*EDIT* Oh I just realized we have the same name. Cool

I tried the nose method, couldn't breathe and tried harder only to have air shooting out of my ears....

I actually started a similar topic a while ago. The same thing happened to me during a false awakening. I tried putting my finger through my hand, and breathing through my nose while it was plugged, but both failed. I think this occasionally happens to everyone. I don't know if you do RCs well or not, but if you aren't doing thorough RCs that could be the problem. Otherwize it could be that your subconscious didn't want you to become Lucid at that point, and only allowed you to become Lucid later in the dream, as it needed to do something maybe.

I always am able to force air through my nose even when it is plugged in dreams. Its like breathing with a stuffed nose. So when i wasnt able to do this i assumed i wasnt dreaming.

Doing a succesfull realitycheck and not gone lucid has happened to me one time. Later in the dream, I did another RC and became lucid though. I don't think you should care much about. Happens for everyone who's doing the DILD technique

It didnt work though. It was an unsuccessful reality check. Im just wondering why it didnt work.

You were probably somehow pinching your nose is real life. It happens for everyone doing the DILD technique, as I said

The one RC that usually never fails (in my experience) is looking at a digital clock. I reccommend this to anyone using the RC method.

Adopted Megabenman although he disappeared a while ago.

This is something I've never understood; what if there aren't any digital clocks in your dream? How can you look at one? (I wear an analogue watch). I've never seen a digital clock or watch in any dream.
Please tell me what to say; I live foot to mouth.

If you look for a digital clock you will find one, especially if your dream takes place in your house. If you are dreaming you may find digital clocks at random locations. If you have to, move to another room and look for one. Look at the clock at least 2 times. Each time the clock changes you become more lucid. If it blacks out you are also dreaming.

In dreams outside large billboards that have digital letters or numbers work well - they behave chaotically and change rapidly.

Almost anywhere you may find a printed word. Focus on this word and read it over at least 3 times. If it changes in any way you are dreaming. You may wish the word to change as you reread it.

Normal watches also make a reliable RC - look at your normal watch several times. The minute hand will skip a few minutes with each glance, or something even more bizzare may happen. It takes ~5-7 glances to become lucid with normal watch. Once again wishing it to change works a bit better.

Any bodily RCs are prone to failure, especially if you believe that you are NOT dreaming - your body will work as it's supposed to be. At the same time looking at a digital clock a couple times will make you lucid regardless of your state of mind. It is amazing when you just walk through your house 100% sure you are awake, glance at the microwave digital clock and realize that you are dreaming.

This has happened to me. I can't remember if the reality check failed or worked. Though, I do remember being proud of myself for 'knowing' I was in reality . I only remember using RC's in a dream twice. The first time it worked but I immediately lost control and woke up.

I never perform a single RC during the day. I don't know why, but it really bothers me to stop whatever I'm doing only to pinch my nose, or to glare at a clock.
However, I still did it in dreams, and it made me lucid quite a few times already, I mean, I've had enough LD experience to know that if the light switch doesn't work, then I'm probably dreaming. Likewise, when I looked at watched it also made me lucid, even without performing RCs during the day. But if you do perform RCs during the day, then please ignore my ways and proceed with it, I don't mean to change what you're doing, as it might not work for you.

But to the point, as someone said, bodily RCs aren't really reliable. Once whist starting an LD, I pushed my finger through my palm, and it didn't go through, I tried pinching myself, but I felt 'real' pain instead of the dull feeling, pinching my nose failed as well. You shouldn't really rely on them unless they do work (duh). The clock and text ones always worked, as well as looking at a mirror... (though you might get disturbed by what you see o_o)

I find that it also works with phones. In a recent non lucid dream i was trying to type numbers into a cellphone and every time i looked back the numbers were weird. Like there were 3 fours. and some buttons had no numbers on them.

Jared, I suggest that you only use realitychecks, that you can do to your self. Like a nosecheck, look at your hands and so on. Also, remember to always do two realitychecks. When the first fails, the next one will most likely succeed

Thus far that is all ive been doing. I've only been RC'ing during the day with the nose check though. Sometimes i will look at my hands but not often. I will start. thanks.
