      they say while alcohol is in your system it suppresses REM. this is true. So get wasted at night and just fall asleep and set your alarm for a WILD. Now when your alarm wakes you up, all the prior sleep you had had no REM, so your body will need more of it. It makes sense to me that your body will play catchup in the morning. Plus, it will be easier to fall asleep in the early morning for us light sleepers. I did this method on accident last night and it was the best experience of my LIFE!!! I had 4 LD, about 5 minutes long a piece. The only problem was i was paralyzed in my dreams!! If freaked the shit out of me every time. Please post responses if you have had similar experiences. IT WAS AWESOME!!!! I AM SO AMPED!!! WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!&#33 ;

Why only 21 and up? In Holland, you can buy Alcohol (LEGALLY) starting at age 16.

Anyway, Alcohol makes your dreams a lot weirder usually, and it surpresses REM, yeah. Anyways, this would only work if you set your alarm at a time where you havn't had REM but ARE sober. Because if you wake up and are still drunk, your REM will still be surpressed.

Also, AILD? Meh. It's just WILD, under influence by Alcohol.

It's a rebound effect and is pretty effective. I've never had instant luck by getting WASTED -- maybe because my idea of wasted is waking up drunk -- but the next night's sleep is beginning to end vividness because, like you said, your body need to catch up on the rem. When I have three or four pints, drive home, then go to bed I can get the rebound effect that night and it is pretty remarkable.

The only bad part was i couldnt move freely after i went lucid. It was like the SP went through into my dream. And Tweak, i dont think it was a alcohol induced WILD because i dont remember wilding. I do, however vaguely a VERY loud ringing in my left ear and then some HI, then i was dreaming. I make another post about fading and getting back into a LD. It worked perfect for me and the dreams hit me like a wave.

Oh wait - I read your post fully, and I thought you were thinking about WILD. Guess you weren't talking about that. Anyways, in another topic, didn't you say you reentered your dream 4-5 times? I assumed you were talking about that time.

If not, it's still not really an AILD - More of a RRILD (REM Rebound ILD) (which would be a DILD). Weed also causes this effect.

Actually you may be on to somthing there. I had my one and only LD the night had some very potent homemade wine. I think the hard part would be to getting the right amount at the right time before bed. I have tried to repeat this but have been unsucsessful. Fascinating thought though.

I've had a fairly successful LD once after a night out, but this would be about statistically average for me and hte total number of lucids I've had.

To get the Desired REM-Rebound effect I guess you should know first the exact specific effects of and length of intoxication by of alcohol.
That's why I love Erowid.org: Just Click Here to see the Effects and Duration of Alcohol

So Drinking strong alcohol, gets you on a peak-drunkness well within 1 hour ( Depends on how high your Personal Tolerance is as to how much Liquor that'll take ) After +2 hours you're ''plummeting back down to baseline, at +3 hours you're almost sober, still a little buzzed out, tired and dull.

Now if Alcohol were to be used as a means to, first depress and then, rebound the REM sleep, you FIRST got to figure out which Stage of Alcohol Intoxication (+1,+2,+3 or +4 hours?) is the one were the depressant effects wear off again and a certain clearmindedness returns to us: This would be the THE moment for the Alcohol aftermath REM-rebound if you could time that stage just right into your natural light, late night/morning REM-sleep.

However, since alcohol has such huge varying effects from person to person, due to tolerance and natural different intoxication reactions, you should first try and find the perfect Alcohol-dose an Time of Ingestion.

I might do an experiment with this once. I'll take out a week or 2 for it maybe.
I'll start off with really small amounts that hardly get me tipsy and then night after night I'll build up the Dose. And I'll be using Ouzo: Greek Anice Liqour 42% Alcohol.

1st night: 1 shot ( hardly has any effect on me, and lasts very short )

      2nd night: 1'5 shots

3d night: 2 Shots (I'd be slightly tipsy now)

      4th night: 2,5 shots

      5th night: 3 shots ( I should be bordering drunk here )

But I hardly ever drink. So I'll do that one day.

Seriously SKA? 3 Shots of 42% bordering drunk? 2 Shots Tipsy? Your personal tolerance isn't high at all then. It takes me about 5-6 shots of Goldstrike (50%) to border being drunk.
