      Hi there.

I have known about lucid dreaming for about 1.5 to 2 years,
      but probably have only beenm 3 months trying with great effort;
that is, frequent research and trying almost every night.

MILD and autosuggestion havn't done a thing for me,
and so i'm trying a direct entry tecnique. Direct entry
tecniques appear not to be working as well.

      On to the problem.
With WILD, I wake up 5-6 hours after sleeping, I sometime get up for 15 min,
sometimes for 2; I get the same results anyway.
I lay in bed, counting my breaths, I will feel slightly tingly, and see some HI.
thats it. no further. I cant get the HI any more immersing, or any SP.
If I quit at this stage, I have serious trouble going to sleep normally.

My guess is I need to immerse myself further in the HI and stuff. how do I do that?
So the questions I have are
How long do I keep counting my breaths?
Should I try a different tecnique other than counting breaths?
How do YOU go from mild HI to thick SP?

Thanks! I really want to have a REAL LD. I dont know what its like.

Stick with DILD for now. You've already had 2 successes with it. Practice reality checks and keen awareness of your surroundings continuously throughout the day. Continuously. You will become lucid more often. MILD/autosuggestion is all well and good, but if aren't reality checking during the day, you won't reality check at night. Period.

Now as for extending the duration of your lucid dreams, the most common piece of advice is: calm down. I know it's exciting to finally achieve something you've been working towards for so long, but if you let yourself get overwhelmed with emotion, you're likely to wake up or at least lose lucidity. Other stabilization techniques: rub your hands together upon becoming lucid. This engages your tactile sense and helps to anchor your awareness in the dream. If you feel the dream start to fade or you feel like you're about to wake up: dream spin. This was originally discovered by the dream researcher Dr. LaBerge and has been proven time and time again as an effective method for stabilizing dreams and prolonging their duration.

I would take a break from WILD for a while. It seems to be easier for some than others. I've never been able to get far with WILD. Many people on this board who've been practicing lucid dreams for years have never been able to WILD either.

If it's WILD you're after, I've had success with this tutorial

Other than that, I agree with DuB in that you may just need to take a break from WILD. You may also need a good motivation or you may need to stay awake for longer than 15 min when you WILD. There are a number of easily changable factors that can effect your LDing. Experiment with different techniques and evaluate your results.
      Hope I helped

Heh, I finally read that monster all the way through!
I guess ill try very closely following his method, and try
to make a sleep schedule; which I havn't been doing.

Its alot harder than it seems.

Thanks for the replies; It seems I may just have to
find out my problem for myself, though.

well what usually seems to happen is as im counting, I go in a cycle of counting, losing my place, and ounting again. I suppose I need to stay up a bit longer, or just concentrate more.

The trouble is, that I cant guage time at all after counting for a while,
and I have a hunch that i'm dozing, waking up and counting.

Im really going to try for the sleep schedule for at least a week. Its really
hard, but it's good for me even if I dont LD lol.

FILD has worked 2 out of 3 times for me, so far...actually, it's really cool when it does work, because you don't think you're dreaming. The first time I did it, I felt this tingliness come over my body immediately so I knew it had worked, but the second time I did it and was sure I was still awake. I did the reality check and bam! Asleep...weird.

You want to wake up and lay there quietly for a little bit. The trick is to not wake yourself up too much, but not fall back asleep right away. If you wake up and go to the bathroom or think too hard, you won't be able to do it. You just need to find an amount of time until you think you're probably about to fall asleep. Then you do the finger movements and think that in about 10-30 seconds you'll do a RC.

You should probably wait about 30 seconds as opposed to 10 because sometimes you do it correctly, but the RC wakes you up, so wait for a bit to make sure you're thoroughly asleep.
