I've never slept on my back before. I can only sleep comfortably on my side. Probably just a matter of getting used to I guess. |

It might have something to do with your blood flow when you sleep on your back. I don't know much about anatomy, but it seems like you could be lying on a major vein if you sleep on your side. |

Generally sleeping on your back is recommended for WILD type techniques, and that's because it's typically an uncomfortable position for most people, so you stay conscious easier, and you don't drift off as easily as you normally would. So I've heard anyway. I suppose it could help with other techniques of lucid dream as well, because it would probably still be easier to become conscious if your in an uncomfortable position while in your dream. |

I used to only sleep on my side, but when I learned that on your back |

in the summer i tend to sleep on my back a lot.. but now it's absolutely freezing.. most've the time I lie on my side all scrunched up!! |

Some are born to sweet delight,
Some are born to endless night.
I also sleep on my side normally, but find it easier to try WILDing [I haven't actually succeeded, but I mean I get closer to..] while on my back. I personally don't know if it's because it's uncomfortable, the blood flow hypothesis seems more accurate.. |

I used to only have nightmares this way,but after conqering nightmares sleeping on my back is great.I think since sleeping on you side is often the fetal position, you are actualy defying you natural state, and thats why your uncomfortable.try using less pillows,Ionly use one on my back, sometimes none. |

I have been sleeping on my back since the beggining of the school year, and now that i think of it, every time i have a lucid dream, i've been sleeping on my side. I can't seem to withstand the buzzing that comes along with SP and HI when i'm going into a lucid dream when sleeping on my back. |
|
I don't know I've had 100's of lucid dreams and never once fell asleep on my back, still it makes sense to me, possible more sleep paralysis too, which is where alot of my lucids come from. |
|
I wanna be the very best
Like no one ever was
To lucid dream is my real test
To control them is my cause
i have definitely noticed this as well. |

Wow! This topic is so true! Last night I slept on my back, and I didn't wake up or change position until after about six hours! |

A few months ago I started sleeping on my back instead of face-down. I personally haven't noticed an increase in lucid dreams, but this article by the Lucidity Institute mentions a study done on the correlation between sleeping position and lucid dreams, saying, "...people had three times as many lucid dreams when sleeping on their right sides than when sleeping on their left sides. Back sleeping presents a more complicated picture, also seeming to be better than sleeping on the left." |

Thinking of a dream
Not sure what the reason is, but it's the same for me. |
|
well I snore on my back so I can't sleep like that haha |
|
I sleep on my stomach every night, I don't really believe it has much effect on my lucid dreaming.. I guess I just find it easier to drift off to sleep on my tummy rather than my side or back. |

Well I had a series of lds this weekend all sleeping on my back.I was exhausted from the holiday so I passed right out.It sucked though because I havent seen my wife in two monthes because shes in rehab, forgot about the lucid task ,and went straight into turning dream charecter into women.I did try rubbing my hands together for the first time, and was surrprized at the results.alot more lifelike.I wasnt used to that, and woke up a couple of times, but I was able to go right back into it.I think It was also easier to go right back into the LD on my back.Anyone agree,or disagree? |
