You do the reality check 20 or 30 seconds after.

Questions: How is this any different than regular FILD, whats the big deal about breathing through your nose prior to the RC, how do you keep from falling asleep before 20 seconds (HARD TO DO), and can you try this again after failing the first RC?

      hehe thanks

it is different because in the normal fild, you wake up and stay up, and then it is very hard to cath=ch the moment to move your fingers. here, you do it anyway.

the RC is breathing through your nose.(when its pinched, of course. thought it was common knowledge...)

you just somehow stay concious, al least i do.

yes you can try it, but after another REM period.

here is what i do, in detail:

      wake up, silence the alarm.

      move fingers.

RC after what seems like 5 seconds.

be happy because of a good dream.

Hes saying your post about the REM cycles makes no sense. Which it doesn't cause if you add up all the times you get 335 minutes which is 5 hours 35 minutes. I think the REM cycle is around 90 minutes right? Although yeah it's different for everyone.

What does moving your fingers do? Are you supposed to go into the dream without even noticing?

yes you go into it without noticing.

to answer yout 1st question, ZenVortex has to say this: "FILD is a very important technique. Here's why. The portion of the brain called the cerebellum is responsible for all muscular movement. When we fall asleep, it switches off (so we don't physically enact our dreams) and takes on a new function, which is to store dream memories. That is why when we awake, we can stimulate dream recall by moving something such as an arm or a leg -- or a finger. By moving the finger while falling asleep, it appears that we keep a small section of the cerbellum active, which is enough to trigger lucidity.
      "

I tried this, but I just fell asleep. I did some RCs while I was doing the finger movements but I wasn't dreaming.

I gave your trick a shot.
I woke up at around 4, did the Reality Check and stuff, and
I gently tapped my fingers, as if I was playing the piano.
That that finger got tired, so I went on to another finger, then another, and another, then I switched hands, and did more fingers...

By the time I did every finger, I was still awake and I was too tired to go on.
Ironically, about 10 seconds after I stopped moving my fingers, I fell asleep =P,
Then I dreamt that I was in a field with critters and butterflies ^_^, it was a cute dream, lol.

you did it a little wrong. you gotta move two fingers like you are pressing 2 piano keys. for like 5 or 6 movements, then i am asleep. you move them very slightly, almost in your mind.

I think I might give this another try, and even if I'm still awake after 5-6
movements I can then try WILD.

How many times out of how many attempts has this technique worked
      for you?

I tried this, but I just fell asleep. How do you keep them moving and fall asleep at the same time?

this has worked for me every time except 2 times, and that was only because i thoughti was awake and didnt do the RC when i was really asleep.

      did you do the RC?

i dont know how. i move them ever so slightly, almost as if i was just stinking that i was moving them.

oh maybe i know:you wake up too much when you silence alarm clock. try to make it so that you are facing your alarm so you just open your eyes so little that you can look where to press, reach over using minimal effort and then do the rest.
