I tried this yesterday night, and I woke up at 5:00, after 4-5 hours of sleep. I had positioned my alarm right besides me, for easy access and less work. As I had turned it off, I relaxed, and started moving my 2 fingers. I think I was doing it for maximum 30 seconds. I never did a reality-check. I suppose I fell asleep hehe. Gonna try again tonight, it seemed to work.

Has this worked for anyone? Whenever I try, I move my fingers :ever so slightly: and then nose RC after about 25-30 seconds and it NEVER works. I don't know...it seems like some people absolutely swear by this method, but it hasn't ever worked for me and I've tried many many times. Any advice?

ive got another question..how fast do you fall asleep naturally =b becuase it takes me three hours usually..and I highly doubt this technique will work so quickly on me

I might end up tapping for an hour

Well I tried this last night and it worked. But it's a funny story. It was actually a false awakening I tried it during. So I never really woke up in the first place.

      argh, someone please help!

i've probably tried this 4 times now and i'm just not getting it. i have my alarm (my cell phone) right beside my bed. i've tried sleeping 5 hours, and also 3-4. nothing. i thought maybe opening the cell and turning off the alarm was too much work, so i tried using a clock right beside my bed. nothing.

i think my heart starts beating really fast when the alarm goes off... i just can't keep it from happening. i feel like i'm only seconds away from being lucid, but i just can't get it to happen. maybe i should try it every night for a week or two so it's more of a routine (and thus less exciting)...?

also, skuruza, you said do a RC after 1-3 seconds... but wouldn't it work just the same after 30 seconds? i mean, if you're asleep in 1-3, and you RC after 30, wouldn't you still be asleep? it's just hard for me to picture falling asleep that fast, even if i was really tired.

i'm struggling with this one hard core, and i can't ever get WILD to work, so any other tips would be greatly appreciated.

Just a quick question, I have a hamster in my room so he's usually up and running on his wheel while I'm trying to sleep. I've gotten used to it now and I usually don't notice it but would the noise affect my attempts? Like make it harder or maybe even make it pretty much impossible or does it matter?
Understanding your physical self is to only understand half of you. You must also learn to understand your dreams to understand yourself as a whole.

Does a "breathe with your mouth shut"-RC work? instead of a nose RC

This topic makes me laugh, this is just a remake of fild thats been summarized in an unexplainable/non-understandable way.
      I stomp on your ideas.

When you say it I actually agree. But by expressing himself succinctly I guess it makes people think that it's easy. At least it looks easy ...

But I'm too lazy, so I haven't tried yet :/
Currently practicing WILD. I quote Kaniaz who said it best: "The point of WILD is to piss me off". Though, I have not given up, far from it.

      hi skuruza,

so is this the correct way for me to do it?

      --sleep at 1am
      --wake up at 7m
--off the alarm but still stay on bed
--move 2 fingers very gentle for few secons
--breathe through nose and do rc for few seconds again
      --then sleep?

      thanks

i didn't exactly do this technique, but i did something similar a couple days ago, and i did an RC but i didn't really have to because i felt the transition where i felt like i was vibrating a couple times.so you'd think you'd realize that your lucid.

It seems obvious but do you do it with your eyes closed?

I just tried this last night, and everytime I was about to start dreaming I was thinking oh Sh** and woke myself up. And then I came close, I did the RC and found out I was dreaming and I thought Holy Sh** and I woke up again. lol, maybe I should keep the sh**s down. :yumdumdoodledum:

This is a combination of FILD and DEILD. The idea is that you are closer to falling back into dreaming when you have just awoken from REM sleep, making the FILD easier. However, I feel that I lose consciousness too easily if I don't get up from my bed. Too many time of ignoring my alarm clock has made me a bit prone to that, I'm afraid.

      I am from South Africa

Maybe just a little bit. I know what you mean though. It sure gets annoying after a while.
