I've never been able to successfully acheive a WILD, however it was not until last night that I actually seriously attempted it. Last night when I attempted a WILD, the hypogogic imagery began with what looked like fireballs flying towards me from the sides and I suddenly became extremely disoriented. I felt like I was moving in all directions at once. Also, my heart began beating very rapidly. I was just letting things happen and trying to remain thoughtfree the entire time. I was unsuccessful in bringing about the WILD, but was wondering whether I was close. I haven't seen this in anyone's testimonials about WILDs.

Any help or suggestions would help tremendously.

Wow, you were EXTREMELY close from WILDing! You probably got too excited and that stopped the process, but next time when you get to that disoriented point, please try and let it happen. You will be disoriented til a dream forms and you will find yourself standing or sitting or whatever, depending what your dream brings you.

The disorientation and that fireball flying toward you sounds like your dream was ABOUT to form. Also if you see a stable HI and that you feel like you are partially there, try to rub your hands or use some sensations with your dream body so your mind can speed it up and put you fully in your dream world.

You were very close.. too bad you didn't make it there. Perhaps next time.

Don't trust what you are seeing right now because you might be dreaming right now. Be LUCID! I repeat, be LUCID!

Like Dm7 said you were EXTREMELY close. I think that may have been sleep paralysis kicking in (the part where you started feeling pulled in all directions) and you got sort of freaked out. after a few times you start to think "oh this again." and it won't bother you. You are sooooo close!

Great. Thank you both. I appreciate the response and I'm thrilled to know I'm close. Unfortunately, at the time that I was being "pulled in" to the dream I also felt my face/nose getting cold and I felt uncomfortable so I got out of that state. It has been VERY cold these last few nights and so it's been hard to be entirely comfortable for an extended amount of time. I usually end up sleeping with the blanket over my head, face down.

Once again, thank you! I will try again tonight.

Today I sat in a chair and tried to WILD, not for long, only about 5 minutes, I felt like I was doing somersaults in the chair, hahaha, then I stopped because the cat jumped on my lap.

That would have been weird. lol

I have two questions: Why do the transitions feel so weird and long, I mean, shouldn't sleep paralysis be instantaneous? How can you pass through the transition phase of a WILD? Everytime I feel the sensations I lose it and wake up.

I don't know about the first question, but I can sympathize with you on the second one. I think it's because our bodies aren't used to the experience. I try it and it's hard for me to stay calm once it starts happening so I just lose it. But I think that if we keep on doing it, then we'll gradually get used to that feeling. I guess it's like learning any other new experience like driving a car or asking girls out for a date.

Yeah. I tried it again last night and it seemed a little easier. Unfortunately, I wasn't successful. As I was "getting in the zone" my neightbor in the apartment below me was having sex with some girl and it totally broke my concentration. That's ok, I'll just try again tonight.
