Having been a member for so long and the countless numbers of posts I have seen, along with the three habitual marijuana smokers I know, I think that it is safe to say that it does hamper dream recall.

      <div class='quotetop'>QUOTE("The Lucidity Institute")</div>
A number of substances have been suggested to enhance the likelihood of lucid dreaming, from vitamins to prescription drugs. There are few good scientific studies to test such claims. Lucid dreaming is highly subject to the placebo effect; the belief that something will stimulate a lucid dream is very effective&#33; This is not to say that there are not substances that do, in fact, promote lucid dreaming. We are interested in discovering such and welcome observations from fellow dreamers. At this time, however, we do not endorse any substances for inducing lucid dreams. Many prescription drugs as well as marijuana and alcohol alter the sleep cycle, usually by suppressing REM sleep. This leads to a phenomenon called "REM rebound," in which a person experiences intense, long REM periods after the drug has worn off. This can manifest as nightmares or, possibly, as lucid dreaming, since the brain is highly active. Drugs in the LSD family, including psilocybin and tryptamines actually stimulate REM sleep (in doses small enough to allow sleep), leading to longer REM periods. We do not recommend the use of drugs without proper guidance nor do we urge the breaking of laws.[/b]

My friend says he would LD&#39;s only when he stays sober for a number of days, either the THC and other chemicals are keeping him from dreaming or it could because of the troubles with dream recall.

I also listen to jazz fusion like Al Di Meola, classical, especially paganini for my guitar inspiration, and lots of other kinds of music

You know what you gotta do LucidDreaming4Ever?

Try and time how Long after smoking Marijuana the Relaxing &#39;&#39;downer&#39;&#39; effect of weed lasts. If you&#39;re a regulair smoker like I am it should wear off maximally 1 hour later ( assuming you just smoked some Maniacally strong weed )

Then Smoke Marijuana and make sure that just as you fall asleep the &#39;&#39;downer&#39;&#39; effects wear off.
You will be left with the Psychedelic effect of Weed while asleep: This is what gives ppl VERY interresting, vivid, colorfull and Memorable dreams.

Thursday I&#39;m going to Drop Acid with friends so I&#39;ll finally find out what they mean with the Term &#39;&#39;Acid Dreams&#39;&#39;. I&#39;ll post my entire experience + The following night of Dreaming Experience in my therefor made Topci &#39;&#39;Psychedelic Experiences&#39;&#39; in the Extended Discussion Board.

this to SKA... wont drugs hamper your abilities to lucid dream? wouldnt it be better to let it all happen naturally? you forget there are young readers on this site... we don&#39;t want to be influencing their opinions on illegal substances so that they would be more inclined to take them. this is NOT what the site is for. people do not need to know about your substance abuse.

about your signature you might want to correct the second paragraph... are you honestly suggesting that 98% of people have smoked marijuana?

I think the young readers on this site are responsible and would not be influenced so easily from just what SKA said if they are they shouldn&#39;t be allowed on the net clicking on a marijuana link and thats for there parents to monitor. I say give young readers a broader view of the world, don&#39;t hide it away.

You see it is a substance abuse
he might see it as a method of connecting with higher states of conciousness, and ive never heard of substace abuse from ska.
rather the opposite, drugs used in a very careful, respectful way. if you dotn respect the ehrb, dont use it.
      I think SKA does.

i&#39;ve been smoking regularly (oh god, i hope you don&#39;t think less of me *rolls eyes*) and i&#39;ve found that i dont quite dream while i&#39;m stoned. perhaps it&#39;s the fact that no matter how often i smoke, it always hits me just as hard, or just a lack of recall in such a state. however, on nights i smoke, i am often able to dream in the AM after i&#39;ve woken up once or twice. that said, if i were serious about dreaming, i wouldn&#39;t smoke... i&#39;m convinced through experience that it hinders dreaming in just about every way.

i&#39;m with you there. i love smoking the herb and do whenever i get a chance, but i rarely have memorable dreams (or even NON-memorable dreams that i can remember) when i&#39;m stoned. ska is right about coming down much quicker if you smoke a lot, but i sometimes like to smoke right before bed. long story short, i&#39;ve always found that it definitely does not help me lucid dream.

it&#39;s damn fun while you&#39;re awake though.
