It seems to be consensus that when we are thinking to ourselves (autosuggestion), "I" is always used. But in cases like making a self-hypnosis tape or subliminal recording, we become the passive listener to our own voices. Would it make more sense to use "you" instead of "I"?

Could anyone tell me which pronoun is the more effective when it comes to communicating with our subconscious?

I've heard several times "I" is the best regardless of a recording.

Me too. But I'm a bit curious. You see, when a hypnotist tries to hypnotize us, they say "you". "You are feeling drowsy, you are going down the stairs, you see......" and so on. When we record the self-hypnosis script, we are taking the role of the hypnotist. When we listen back to the recording, we are listening to someone (ourselves in this case) who tell us what to do. If the pronoun is "I", can our subconscious relate to and respond to that? It really puzzles me.

Use "I" in this way:

Make the hypnosis script something like this:

"You are very relaxed. Tell yourself I am relaxed. You will have lucid dreams. Tell yourself I will have lucid dreams."

Maybe not those exact words in the script, but do you see what I mean?

I don't think it really matters whichever way if you're already consciously aware the suggestions are directed towards yourself.
If it helps tho, you could say "[insert your name= ex.Billy], [insert suggestion= ex.you are becoming more and more relax]."

Thanks so much for all your opinions, it's getting clearer now. I especially like the "Billy, you..." approach. Sometimes I think in this way to myself too. Thanks again everyone.
