I'm having a lot of trouble FILDing. I go to bed at 10:30 and I'm asleep by 11:00 at the very latest. My alarm is set to 03:00. The trouble is I'll turn off my alarm and then I generally foget EVERYTHING I was supposed to do and just lay there for about 5 minutes. I'll either fall asleep or remember to FILD and then think, "Oh crap, I was supposed to FILD". I have not had a successful FILD to date and it's beginning to bug me because it seems like an easy technique yet I'm having so much trouble with it... I think the problem is that my mind doesn't wake up enough to function properly. Does anyone have any suggestions that may help me wake up my mind easily without waking up my body? I don't mind if it means drinking something or eating something or just doing something. I don't even mind if it's a complete placebo as long as it will work. I just want something that will allow me to LD at will. I don't want to have to rely on having a DILD which are fairly unpredictable.

[P.S if it is a placebo make it believable}

Put a note *on* your alarm clock (so that you have to TOUCH it or MOVE it out of the way to shut off the alarm) saying, "Remember to FILD." When you turn it off, you'll see the note and remember.

Yeah. I've tried that to. But it isn't working. What I do is read the note think for a second ooh I better try FILDing and fall straight back asleep. Then I wake up in the morning thinking, "Huh, how did I get here?... Dammit!"

I totaly know what you mean. There is something that works for me every time, but you have to be dedicated to the thing you want done, because I know how stubrn I can be when waking up in the middle of the night. If you are dedicated enough, simple but strong auto-suggestions might work, they do for me. Before you go to bed, or while in the bed allready, just say to yourself in your mind, something like "I will wake up... I will do this and that.". Believe in what you're saying and have willpower escort the suggestion. I can eaven wake up exactly when I mean to sometimes, without the help of an alarmclock.
Hope I helped, eaven if only a little bit. Good luck!

FILD worked for me once and i've tried it 3 time since then and the same thing happened to me and i put sticky notes on my alarm clock but i guess it was to dark to read it. i think im going to move my alarm clock a little farther down on its table so i have to reach over the sticky notes and ill most likely read one

I'd like to do that but my alarm cable is too short and I can't move it any further away. Also, doesn't that kind of defeat the point of your body staying asleep?
