      The perfect WILD

I'm planning what I like to call "the perfect WILD". One that'll have the highest possible chance of inducing lucidity while still providing enough sleep, ect. This is it so far:

8:00-8:30 PM: Get ready for bed
8:30-9:00 PM: Listen to hypnotic MP3 in bed
      9:00 PM: Go to sleep

3:00 AM: Secondary alarm goes off, wake up, set alarm for 5 AM
3:01 - 3:30 PM: Read printed out forum material while still in bed, minimizing movement and remaining as tired as possible
3:30 AM: Go back to sleep, attempt WILD

5:00 AM: Secondary alarm goes off again, write down any dreams(this is skippable to increase tiredness and chance of WILD), then attempt WILD again

6:30-7:00 AM: Main alarm goes off, get up, go to school.

I'd like to try this "perfect WILD" once or twice every week from now on. Before I put it into action, I need you guys to offer suggestions.

Anything to add to the routine?
      Is this a good/bad idea?
Anything to remove? (is two attempts too much?)
      Should there be more/less time?

Anything will be appreciated. I'll post my results here once I put it in action. (not tonight though, I want feedback plus I don't feel like going to bed at 8ish.)

It sounds like a good plan. If I attempt a WILD at 5:00... I know I'll just lie in my bed, awake. I must be super tired for a WILD, so 3:00 AM sounds like a plan. The key is getting an alarm that will not wake up other light sleepers.

Shall we call this the Cutter Schedule?

Where did the research forum go? I want to take the Cutter Challenge! xD

My alarm won't wake anyone else up, I'm certain. My parents are a floor above me, and my brother is on the other side of the planet. ^_^

I wouldn't call this the "Cutter Schedule/Challenge", but feel free to try it or a different version of it. Once I find one that consistantly works for me, I'll post it here, as well as any other variations that work. Hopefully others will try it and see if it works for them.

I feel bad. I wish I could try it tonight, but it's already 8:00. I'll definitely do it tomorrow and report back here. Tonight I'll only be using an alarm around 1-2:00 AM.

Allright. My main problem with WILDs the rare times I attempt them is that when the alarm goes off in the morning: I'm Either too deep asleep to even wake up consciously from it, or I wake up remember I will try WILD and fall back asleep way too fast and unconsciously. I have a hard time keeping a clear, lucid Mind in the mornings. Any suggestions?

I have 2 Red Bull energy Drinks. I will put them right next to my bed. They contain alot of Stimulants such as Cafeïne and Taurine, but also a couple of B vitamins of which B6 is one of them. I will wake up as my alarmclock goes off, Drink a can of Red Bull while heavily focussing my attention on becomming Lucid and WILD and then go back to sleep.

Maybe after this experiment I will try to drink Red Bull and smoke a Marijuana joint as both seem to seriously enhance my Concentration and clear my Mind of exessive, spontanious thoughts significantly.

SKA: I wouldn't call that a bad thing. If you can go back to sleep quickly, then you're all set up for a WILD. Wake up, turn alarm off, then relax and remain conscious while your body locks up.

For me, I can't relax. I just have to make a little movement, ect, until I just fall back to sleep normally. I'm going to work on that through this little plan.

And uh, I don't know what to say about getting high or not. If you think it helps, sure, though it may wake you up too much. Red Bull will definitely help, from what I've read here cafeine will kick in as you fall back asleep.

in all my WILDs i wake up after 4-6 hours, get out of bed for like 10-15 min.During that time i go to the bathroom, Drink some water, and watch a little tv for the remander of the time. Then i go into bed and lay in a comfortable position and keep my mind either blank, or occupied till i feel the vibrations. Then If i get through then (i havent been able to get through to the dream the last 4 times ) i have one of the most vivid and controlled lucids ever. And when i wake up, It actully feels like i was there, and expierencing the lucid. Not just remembering. Wilds are awesome.

Cutterkk, your schedule is awesome, and you might be able to get some good WILDs off it, but make sure you get out of bed because if you dont, no matter how awake you feel, you will probably fall back asleep. My suggestion is instead of staying in bed to read forum material, why not get out of bed?

and remember the best time to WILD is when you feel like crap when you wake up, and you absolutely dont want to WILD lol

      good luck !

Bah, turns out I can't do it tonight. Why? Well, I haven't had dinner yet, and it's already 8:00 PM...

I'll have dinner early myself tomorrow so I can follow the plan.

Hi, I'm sort of new here (had a short period of lurking).

Sounds like a nice schedule you've got there Cutterkk. Too bad I wont be able to get to bed any earlier than 23:00 for about two weeks.

I like the idea of two WILD attempts per night, because I need a lot of practice to get the hang of stuff. But does anybody know any thing about the effectiveness of two attempts per night? Due to lack of time to sleep I haven't tried this before.

I dare say I agree with freefire on the issue with getting out of bed to get rid of some of the tiredness. Every time I try to WILD, I fall asleep after a while. But I because there are a lot of people sleeping near by I cant watch TV or even start my computer (which has enough fans installed to sound like a jet engine when running).

I tried something similar last week: alarm at 4/5/6/7 every night, hoping it would increases my chances at WILDs.
I kept this 5 nights, without much success than usual... the last one, I was really too tired during the day, with a headache, at which point I decided to stop.
      • The first night with this schedule was strange... it felt like the whole 4 hours were a "continuity", with a very good dream recall and no "blind spot"; as if it was a very long pre-sleep, aware phase. But I did sleep. In the moments were I was not sleeping, I also had quite a few HI, which is very rare for me.
At the beginning there was a "almost WILD" (only the initial, strange physical sensations)
At the end, I had a spontaneous DILD (lucid in the middle of a dream, without doing a RC).
      • The second night... nothing. Only some strange body deformations near 8am.
      • 3rd night: nothing. (a 5seconds DILD near 2am, before the scheduled alarms)
      • 4th night: a spontaneous ~30seconds DILD at 5h40 am
      • 5th night: nothing

My conclusions from this limited experiment: It did nothing for the WILDs, but it made the DILDs come back (they are becoming quite rare for me, from a lack of dedication), certainly because I "obsessed" over LD every hour of the nights.

About the "best" thing to do at each alarm (go out of bed or not, wait 5 minutes or 30 minutes...): it's really up to your personnal physiology. In my case, I stayed in my bed and immediately tried to sleep again, because if I ever got a little too much awake, then I can't sleep at all for 1 or 2 hours, even in the middle of the night. Well I was a bit too fast since I haven't got any WILD, hmm...

I'll try again another time, maybe. For now, my best WILD schedule is to program my alarm near 7h, and then oversleep (and be late for work). Then, in this "oh-I should wake up but I don't want to" state (between 7 and 9), I'll have random awakenings, and almost spontaneous WILDs when falling asleep again (I have to keep them in mind, they don't occur that easily, but it only take 3 minutes, not 1hour like in the tutorials)
      Dec. 2006 - July 2007:
      92 DILDs + 30 WILDs ; 75% too short, 24% decent, ~3 of 2 to 5 minutes
      (I stopped counting after that)

I tried it last night, although, I was in bed by 9, not 8 as I wanted to.

No luck, I woke up from the first alarm, then couldn't really go back to sleep.

If I'm gonna pull this off right, I'll need to get used to going to bed earlier. Considering that I just started doing my homework... Well, I'm not exactly organized... Pulling something like this off is going to take all of my willpower...
