      Simple but effective WILD technique!

      Before I begin, I've never had a WILD but I've told a few people about a technique that my buddy used to do. He didn't know what a lucid dream was, he just knew that he could control his dreams naturally since he was 3 or 4. This method works pretty well from what I've been told...Of course it doesn't work for me, because I'm WILD-impaired. Idunno, maybe you guys already know about it, but just humor me This method requires no amount of sleep beforehand. You just have to be tired enough to go to sleep. I recommend using it in concurrence with WBTB. Basically it revolves around daydreaming.

      You know how you can be sitting in class or sitting on a plane, bus, just somewhere where you don't feel like focusing, and your mind starts to drift off? You're not going to sleep...not quite, but you have scenarios of things you're thinking about going on in your head. Daydreaming some call it...I see it as quite literally day-dreaming. You're not asleep or unconscious, but you sort of imagine things happening with your minds eye.

      You don't literally see the images...it's sort of like when you have a song stuck in your head. You don't literally hear the song, but you passively acknowledge it in your mind, because your subconscious remembers how it goes. Apply this concept to day-dreaming. I recommend doing this with your eyes open first. It seems counter productive, but I highly advise it. Think of something...anything that you want to see. Start small, and with your eyes open, just sort of zone out staring blankly at something. This is best done in a quiet, still environment. It can be done in the dark, but I suggest moderate lighting...its really just a matter of personal preference. Whatever works best for YOU!

      Choose a scene. While you should choose to day-dream about something that you want to have a lucid dream about, I also can't stress enough that you must start SMALL and SIMPLE. This method will not work if you try to do too much at once. My first time trying this day dreaming exercise, I was not trying to WILD, just trying to day dream. I created an ice rink. Empty. Just plane. The key to this method for WILDing is to focus primarily on details. Get as detailed as possible. Think of it as if you were an artist, drawing out a landscape of your mind. You don't magically draw everything at once...or maybe you do, but you get the point . One thing at a time, and make sure you get every possible detail before you go to the next thing.

      For example, in my ice skating daydream, I envisioned myself sitting on the bench, tying my left skate. I drew (in my mind) an old pair of skates, that had scratches in the black plastic, and worn laces. I made sure to get every detail of the marks on the skate. Then once I was finished, I focused on how my jean cuffs rested on the skate. I drew someone's chewed gum on the ground at the rink. I went on the ice. I made sure to have a bunch of random lines in the ice where skaters had skated before me. All of the hockey circles and whatnot on the ice. All of the scratches in the plexi-glass, everything.

      Then I focused on the cold. How i felt. Since I'm not that great of an ice skater, I thought about my balance. Try to make it as realistic as possible. Everything that you would see if you were really there, try to recreate it in your minds eye! After a certain amount of time, it will be suitable to close your eyes, and you will eventually just phase into the dream scene without any conscious effort. The one time I tried to do it, I succeeded, but I moved to soon. If I can do this, ANYONE can. Believe me. I'm the most unsuccessful WILDer on here.
      Basically, this is just a slightly different approach to WILDing. Obviously I'm one of the members on here of lesser experience, but I must say, this seems to be the best method. This, used in concurrence with WBTB and/or MILD will produce excellent results, and is great for those WILD-impaired persons, such as myself.
      This method can work at anytime. I have started doing it at random times, and though I have not had much success with WILDs before, I hope that this slightly less complicated method of WILD is helpful to many of you!

      You'll have to forgive me, I'm not very good at tutorials, I've never done one before. I know that this method contains a lot of things that are explained in other boards on this forum, but I hope that this explanation makes WILD seem a lot less intimidating... There is much talk of WILD being pretty difficult, which I think produces a mental-block for many less-experienced members on here when they try to do it. They always have that subconscious knowledge that perhaps it's too hard for them. I hope this can ease some of your insecurities about WILD..and I hope you all have great success with this method!

      Yeah, this sounds like VILD. I'm definitely gonna try this tonight, your description was a lot better than the original guy who posted a VILD tutorial. I'm pretty WILD impaired too so maybe this will work for me if it worked for you. Thanks a lot for writing this, even if it doesn't help me it's very well written and will most definitely help many people.

      Excellent! whenever I'm trying to nap in the afternoon, I find myself getting visualizations such as you've described, generally commonplace things where my mind wanders, it's almost like watching a blurry movie or something. I'll definitely give this technique a try and see how it works out, i've got high hopes! thanks for the tutorial, very well written.

      This definitely sounds like VILD, but the analogy you use I think can't be stressed enough. People write VILD tutorials who try to complicate the process far too much and try to find really intricate ways about how to properly visualize what you're seeing and just generally not connecting their process with anything anyone has any real experience with in real life, leaving you to think that VILD is a frightening new frontier for lucid dreaming that you won't be familiar with and that you shouldn't expect quick results with. But simplifying VILD down into daydream - period - leaves everyone on the same page; they know what it is and how to do it, because we've all caught ourselves daydreaming about nonsensical things during the day.

      I kindof did this tonight, I was trying to go to sleep, and my mind wandered, became a very detailed daydream, and all of a sudden I became aware of my body. The major thing was that I wasn't really focusing or trying to do the technique.

      I also noticed that when I was trying the WILD technique, I became incredibly confused and muddled with my thoughts/body. I became caught up in hi and my thoughts, but I would often drift from them back to reality, making things very confusing and sometimes causing tension, and I can't relax. Im wondering if I were more conscious of myself and the hi, perhaps i could have had an ld? The thing is, this was right when I went to bed ( I try the WILD technique to practice laying there), so im not sure if the hi could have actually put me into a lucid dream.

      Thanks for the tutorial, I will try this when I actually wake up from sleep!

      this really is VILD but it seems like an easier way to do it. You can get lost in it so not a whole lot of focus seems to be required. Great Job on making this rainman
      everything in our life happens at once. the future is already happening at this moment. We just cant conciously notice it.

      This definitely helped me get somewhat closer to an LD, you just have to focus on all the tiny elements of a room or a scenario and eventually you get relaxed enough to go into an LD of some kind.
