The thing is that there is grey area between the techniques. It seems like you used a combination of VILD and MILD.

This sounds interesing. (I say that too much.) How does one go about improving there visualization skills?

This small tut works for visualisation and dream control. Try it when you're slightly relaxed.

      step 1
Locate a small object close to you. Try to get something easy. Now get the Xmen out of you and try to move it with your mind. It doesn't matter if you want to levitate it or just move it; just try to displace the damn object
Now as you are trying, close your eyes, and imagine it being done (the object actually being moved).
It's okay to move your real body in order to do this, as well as with the other steps. However, avoid this if you don't really need it.
Repeat this until you can get a clear image of the object moving in your mind. And don't worry, the real object won't actually mobe, I promise

      step 2
Close your eyes, and try to see yourself from a 3rd person point of view. Really see your body in the position you are now. The more detail, the better. Finally, try to move the view, seeing you from other perspectives. Don't forget to include your surroundings.
You might actually feel like you are leaving your body; but don't worry: it's rather cool. It's just a rationalization your mind does: by seeing yourself from another point of view, it means you are out of your body.

      step 3
---- Skip this is you have schizophrenia.
Close your eyes. Imagine a random acquaintance close to you (pretty much like a Dream Character). Now talk to them, and imagien them answering. Keep on questioning until his/her answer comes somehow naturally: like you weren't the one to make up what he/she said. Treat him/her like someone else, but also like a Dream Character. Tip: try to get someone close to you, this task is easier if you know the person well.

      step 4
Close your eyes. Imagine yourself flying. Don't actually move your real body: imagine the scenario around you moving instead. You can try to "swim in the air" if this proves hard. Again, the more detail, the better.

      step 5
Close your eyes. Have in mind the place you are now (e.g. your living room). Choose some place you want to go (e.g. the beach house). Do not try to visualise the beach house yet. Do only imagine the place you are now, but be sure of where you want to go.
After that, try to teleport yourself to the beach house. Really change teh scenario, making it as vivid as you can. But really warp yourself: do no fly or run.
Repeat this until you can swap between different scenarios easily, without need of aids (such as scenario spinning etc).

Finally, daydreaming is also great for visualisation. But imagien yourself like in a real 3d videogame, in a full different surrounding.

      Hope it helps

Thanks. That sounds good. I'm actually finding I'm better than I thought at this.
