This is just strange, but funny.

Me and my dad were in a furniture store in a mall trying out massaging recliners with many settings.

A sales woman comes up to us and I'm afraid shes going to kick us off the chairs for some reason, but insteas she starts showing us all the features and trying to get us to buy the chairs.

Then, she takes us to a spot in the floor right near the chairs where there is a small round hole in the floor about an inch in a half in diameter and tells me to look down the hole. I look down the hole and can see that there are holes like it all down the building lined up so that I could see down into the lobby. (i must have been on the fourth floor or so).

I ask the saleswoman why there is a hole in the floors:

me: why is there a hole in the floors?

saleswoman: so that you can test if you are dreaming

me: oh, how convenient of this place. So, how does this RC work?

saleswoman: you just cover the hole with your hand try to look down, if you can still see through the hole than you are dreaming

so, I cover my hand over the hole, and for some reason I cant even remember if this test worked or not, but in any case, i'm holding my hand there for a while trying to get a result and the saleswoman starts talking again.

saleswoman: so, if this test turns out positive, what is the first thing you are going to do?

Now, I have to explain somthing really quick, for some reason, whenever a DC asks me a question I feel TOTALLY OBLIGATED to provide them with an answer, but the weird thing is, once a DC asks me a question, I know that I'm sleep talking the answer in real life and can even feel and hear myself in bed struggling to say the words out loud.

So, the DC asks me what is the first thing I'd do if it were a dream, and I, In the dream, begin to answer...

ME: Well, if this were a dream the first thing I'd do is...... hold on, I have a bad habit of sleep talking, I'm just going to check to make sure nobody is around to hear this in real life

Then I actually go into a false awakening where I sit up in bed for a moment and turn on the blacklight in my bedroom and look around to make sure nobody is around. Satisfied that I'm all alone, I get back under the covers and am instantly back in the furniture storeroom dreem!

ME: Well, no one is around, so I gues I can say it now.

So fully aware that I was sleep talking IRL, I explain

ME: The first thing I'd do would teleport back to my bedroom (DOH! ), sit in front of my mirror (which dosent even exist IRL, I only use it in dreams ) and play around transforming myself into various creatures.

saleswoman: I dont know why you would be so worried about someone in the real world hearing that, its perfectly normal.

then the dream quickly faded into nothing.

So, in summary...

A DC provides an RC for me, I fail to produce any result from it, the DC asks what I would do if this were a dream, causing me to awarely mention to the DC that I have a tendency to sleeptalk when answering DC questions, so I have an "intentional" FA to make sure no one else is in my room, fall back "asleep" to return to the previous dreamscape and answer the DC's question, the answer of which was what I actually intended to do if I became lucid that night, and as I was answering was fully aware that I'm speaking the answer out IRL as sleeptalk, which means that I perhaps by definition was at least perhaps 1% lucid in that I knew I was sleeptalking.

Oh. My. God.
If I had woken up after a dream like that, I would've literally hit myself in agony.

Wow. I wish my DC's were that helpful.
Why does it seem so hard to wake up now and see who we really are?

i know wot u been by that...when im lucid and only when im lucid and i speak i can actually hear the words....
when i woke up (i was round a friends house) he said that he heard me say 'i dont know where im going' in my sleep, (a dc asked me where i was going)

by the way my most amusing failure to become properly lucid was when i dreamt i fell asleep and i was dreaming then turned lucid, then my dream world and my dream inside of a dream world combined and for some crazed reason i didnt figure out that i was dreaming or lucid even though i was actually lucid in my dream when i was dreaming inside my sleep....

if anyone understood the complexity and irony of that congrats..cos i bearly understand it myself!!!!

That's unfortunate. Interesting though, it's like a paradox.

OMG
I wish my DC's would be like yours :p The DC's in my dreams are often just normal, and they're like laughing at me when I walk away... I'm sorry, you can't know what I'm talking about :p
I was lucid so I went to a DC and I asked her if she knew that this was only a dream. She answered like "What are you? Insane? This is not a dream, silly.", I answer "Okay.....", turn around and walk away. As I'm walking away I can hear how the DC girl starts to giggle so I turn around and I see her do high-five with another DC! Omg, my DC's are like in a conspiracy to keep me non-lucid! :p Since I already was lucid I threatened the girl and the other DC with a shotgun telling them to stop acting and to remind me that I'm dreaming instead or I would kill them... After that I never saw those DC's again

Don't you hate that? I've dreamed about telling people about lucids, dreamed that I was reading about lucid dreaming, dreamed about trying to become lucid, dreamed that I was overhearing people talking about lucids, and once thought I got a lucid-dream subliminal (that I was listening to while I was sleeping) stuck in my head permanently, which really freaked me out. And dream I am on DV all the time. All of these without becoming lucid.

But yours...that takes the cake! Pretty detailed and complex!

Well, look at it this way: The idea of lucid dreaming is getting into your subconscious (I don't know how many you've had), so it is only a matter of time....my subconscious seems to lag behind my regular brain quite a bit.

[T/J]Moonbeam, it sounds like LD'ing is a great dream sign for you--you should do a RC every time you hear about/talk about/read about LD'ing. Do one every time you realize you're signed onto DV, too. [/TJ]

I know it! But that is so often I'd be doing RC's all the time! Of course, when I took your advise about that and did one every 15 minutes all day, I had a lucid dream. So...you're right...(doing RC right now and vowing to do it every couple minutes whenever I'm on DV).

Hilarious, I'm sure we've all missed some fairly obvious dream signs in the past. (Big monster eating my arm? Ah, perfectly natural, no reason to perform a reality check, happens all the time in everyday life.) Your story definitely takes the cake though. :)
