      Yogic Relaxation to aid WILD

      Recently I followed a brief, singulair Yoga workshop.
      It was especially designed to calm and relax the body and mind with physical excercise and breathing. I often do some of the physical/breathing excercises before bed but one specific technique I learned there, which involves imagination, helps me get into deep SP withing minutes.

      The specific technique explained:
      It's quite simple although it demands some undivided, focussed ATTENTION and a tad bit of willpower.

      Here's what you do:
      -You lay down in bed on your Back. Take some time to "feel" you body.
      Become aware of how it feels in different parts of your body and feel the pressure points of your body on the matrass.

      -Now start breathing deeply but calmly. Exhale slower than you inhale.

      -Now everytime you breathe; Inhale through your Nose and Exhale through your Ankles. Yes that sounds funny, but Imagine Breathing out of your ankles. Use your fantasy to imagine a feeling of breath or wind exitting from your Ankles. It might also help if ypou imagine the tention, like glowing embers in your tissue, being blown out of an hole in your ankles like a dusty cloud.
      This way you can breath out all tention. When doing this you will probably notice a feeling of a strong tingling/buzzing exitting your ankles and lowerlegs, sometimes accompanied by involuntairy muscle jerks. Keep doing this untill your lower legs and feet are completely relaxed. To the point of hardily being able to feel them.

      -Now Inhale through your Nose, but Exhale through your Knees.
      Repeat the same thing but then for your knees.

      -Now do the same but then Exhale through your Waste.

      -" " Exhale through your Neck

      -" " Exhale through your Shoulders

      -" " Exhale through your Elbows

      -" " Exhale through your Wrists

      Now at this point you should be so relaxed you can easily roll into a dream any moment. SP is already achieved and sleep is on the way so I guess this would make it significantly easier to stay aware till when the Dreams come. I had serveral close encounters with Dreams starting to take form last night, but ended up having some very vivid dreams anyways.

      Also I noticed how I would feel ithc, or the urge to roll over, but was MUCh better able to ignore those impulses. I was too deeply relaxed to be bothered by those impulses. So I didn't have a hard time at all ignoring them.

      No dream goals at the moment...just flying and letting stuff happen is kinda fun, and it's hard to motivate myself to try LDing lately.

      This sounds very relaxing. A good meditation exercise, at any rate. I will try it tonight, during my second WBTB.

      And it is believe me. Things that are "Fun" are a 100% easier to focus on. And I've found this technique to be profoundly effective.
      It's like breathing all tention out of your body and when you're done you will be in an instant state of deep SP, Body completely numb and ready to move on to the next phases of WILD.

      The IMPORTANT part of this Topic is the part where YOU people let me know how it went. So hurry up and give me some feedback or this Technique, like so many other good ideas and methods, will go to waste and be forgotten.

      okay...so I spent the past eh....50 or so minutes doing it...and so far from what i've gathered...my body gets easily relaxed from this...but not so in the face...it still feels like my face was a little tense during the process. could have been other factors like eating before trying this and not really being tired at all...but once i was able to relax my eyes and face i slipped into about two "mini dreams"...normally I do that right before going into SP with my WILD technique...well I'll try this again tonight when i'm tired...and again after a wbtb.

      Okay...I tried the tech right before bed...and my dream was pretty vivid..didn't have problems with recall, and I tried my WBTB WILD with the dream yoga technique and I hit SP in what seemed to be like 5 minutes. The WILD was overall short, but it was very different. Normally my WILDs start out in my room...but this time I started out in an empty room and walked into a big class room...I sat there and observed what was going on until I woke up...its the last post in my DJ. Overall I would recommend trying this technique since it didn't take long to get into the dream fully lucid. I'm assuming that it was brief due to the fact that I feel wide awake for some reason...maybe I'm just not really sleepy.

      I tried this technique when I first went to bed last night. I envisioned breathing in air through my nose and that air traveling down my body and out through my feet, etc. when I exhaled.

      It took me a few minutes to get my imagination engaged for some reason but then I got into the flow of it. It seemed easier to imagine the air escaping from the bottom of my feet as opposed to my ankles or the other parts of my body.

      I did get very relaxed but still had to talk myself into staying on my back (since I sleep on my side). I eventually gave in and rolled onto my side and must have fallen asleep immediately as the next thing I knew it was morning.

      My recall is pretty hit or miss during the week but I did recall one dream until my dog's barking jarred it out of my head.

      SKA, do you recommend doing this when you first go to bed or after a wbtb.. or both?

      yeah i sleep on my side to clarity....initally I tried it on my back...and during the WBTB I was on my side...I should've mentioned that earlier...

      Well Clairity I guess you could do this both in a WBTB-way and right after going to sleep at night. At night it will help you relax and fall into SP really quick, but the trick is to relax the mind somehwat first and then Totally Direct your full attention to your ankles, or bottom of your feet, and keep it there like a motionless laserbeam. So in the morning, when you're very sleepy and back asleep in a minute or 3, it will aslo help, because it brings you into a deep state of Concentration; which is desirable in order to stay conscious while falling back asleep.

      Also I personally really feel alot of, what I can only describe as, tention-particle-clouds/charges being exhaled down through my lower legs out of my ankles. Really tactile. Like wind blowing downwards through your lower leg's tissue.
      I guess it could be a personal thing, but if the Visual imagination of breathing out tention through your ankles/feet fails to make it feel real for you, then I recommend trying to Imagine he Tactile sense of Breathing out through your ankles/feet. Notice that there's still alot of involuntairy muscle tention in your lower legs. Imagine that, by breathing out through your ankles/feet, you will exhale this tention and be left yet a bit calmer after every breath.

      For me this is most effective. And once you're relaxed and concentrated enough, you will find it gradually easier to ignore stimuli like rolling over, swallowing or even scratching an itch. This makes it easier to lay motionless on your back for long periods without hinder. Just find the discipline to relax, lay on your back for at least 5 minutes and you'll find that, all of a sudden, the urge to give in to these stimuli will be close to 0% and your Mindstate is suddenly quite calm, concentrated and clear.

      I did this technique again and was in SP in no time. Also I was awake and aware very deep into the breathing process. At a certain moment I no longer have to imagine breathing out tention; It will just be so without thought. It will just be a feeling. I continued only focussing on my breath as I couldn't feel my body anymore. I felt very close to dreamland.

      I'm defenitely making progress with this technique. So I'm going to stick with this untill I reach succes. Also I have found this method to speed up the SP-process so it helps progress alot faster with other DV member's techniques.

      I just thought of a possible addition for this technique, but then for Psychic/Cognitive-relaxation instead of physical relaxation. To calm the mind with this same technique with as much effectiveness as this technique has for me to relaxe the body.

      There is consciousness and subconsciousness. And during the night our connscious thoughts slowly ground to a halt as our subconscious thoughts run wild flooding our Mind.
      At least; This is how I experience sleep. Anyone who experiences this the same way? raise hand.

      Maybe you can also imagine breathing your Mind empty of all Subconscious thoughts till, eventually, there will only be pure, thoughtless awareness in our Minds. Like a crystal clear lucidity brought uppon your mind by Breathing out all "Foggy thoughts". To do this for the body is a very practical excersize, but maybe it will work the same for relaxing the mind with a little imagination/visualisation.

      You could imagine your Mind, which is an abstract, ungraspable thing, is a concrete space. Let's say a hollow spherical place(inside of your skull) for instance. Your Consciousness is a Crystal clear, Blue light inside the spherical space, like the "God" in the temple. There are also Subconscious thoughts that, when falling asleep will cloud your consciousness. You can imagine these foggy subconscious thoughts as a mystical, green, intoxicating vapor/fog. You could imagine that you can Breathe in Blue, clear light; Lucidity/Awareness and that you breath out a green, foggy vapor; distractive, Subconscious thoughts so that the Blue, Crystal Clear light of Lucidity increases in the empty space of your Mind and the Intoxicating Green Vapors disappear from it gradually as you breathe in and out.

      I'first going to try doingv the physical excersize and when I'm in full SP and can't feel my body anymore I might continue doing this excersize on my Mind to increase awareness while falling asleep. well. first thing's first.

      I tried this technique as I was going to sleep last night. I didn't get any HI, but I was so deeply relaxed, I couldn't focus on any of the meditations that I normally do just before I fall asleep. I just kept on dozing off. I'm sure this technique does work though.

      Well physically this technique has been succesfull for me everytime I did it. Last night I made up a new addition to this technique, but I think I will make a Separate thread for it.
