      I suck at LD.

i had one lucid dream before

i dreamed I saw a picture of a baby ( i dont know why dont ask me, and i dont know the baby) and the picture swirled around, and kind of IMPLODED into itself. For no reason, no dream sign, nothing... i just knew that i was dreaming. The scenery changed and i found myself in the middle of the desert. Sand was everywhere. i was IN THE MIDDLE OF NOWHERE. There were some families that looked like nomads sitting and having picnics close by. I was very excited because this was my first lucid dream. Now i knew that i DEFINETLY wanted to try to fly. So i jumped, but i didnt fly... I kind of hovered for a bit then went back on the ground. But i did not loose faith. I jumped and really WANTED to fly and i guess i just fleww up into the sky. I remember i was soo happy and i was flying side by side next to a bird. I was talking to the bird and i dont really remember the dialouge, but i remember i asked the bird how i could change the scenery, as i was still in the desert. I really wanted to change into a sex dream , just for the hell of it but as soon as i tried changing the scene, i woke up.

and ive been trying to get lucid dreams for two years now. this is the ONLY one ive had.

      Im desperate

      ANY help is appriciated

I try to WILD, but i get pre-HI, and then the vibrations die, and i get no imagry, just sleepy and numb.

Skip the WILD for now. That's too hard and evidently it's not working for you. Don't feel bad, some people are good at it and some not--I wish I was good at it too, but I"m not.

How is your recall? Are you keeping a journal? Are you making serious efforts to do a lot of reality checks? Those are really the basics, and until you start really doing those things, you can't expect to get lucid.

Honestly, my dream recall is garbage. Ive been trying to make it better by keeping a journal. But usually, i almost never remember my dreams. So i end up not writing anything down. I wake up and instantly forget my dream.

This happens alot. Ill dream, then wake up get out of bed and by the time im standing up i already forget the dream.

I try to reality checks during my day, to make it a habit for when i dream. But that seems to have little to no effect.

      Anyone?

ah I used to have this problem with moving and forgetting my dreams. What I do is keep a note pad by my bed and as soon as I wake I compose it in my mind before moving then in the dark with my eyes closed I write down all I can remember.....its messy but it works for me

do you use an alarm to wake up during your sleep? maybe that would help. also how long on average do you sleep a night cos the long I sleep the better my recall

I tried that as well i put a notebook next to my bed, but by the time i reach for it and start writing, half the details of the dream are gone.

I use an alarm on weekdays, but for weekends or if im on break i sleep late.
As for sleep duration, I have a very unusual sleep cycle. I usually sleep late, around 12-3am, to about 10-1pm ON WEEKENDS. On weekdays i try to sleep at or before midnight, and wake up at 7:30am

right if the written DJ is not working out for you why dont you try using a Dictaphone? keep it under your pillow then as soon as you wake quickly take a second to record atleast the key facts about the dream.

Anything you can recall even a feeling or single phrase is useful. Im not sure of the success of these but try some of the subliminal recordings that are available in the lucid aids section (I think they are there)

Without recall, you could even be having lucids and not remembering them. They are as easy to forget as regular dreams--so good recall is absolutely critical.

Just write whatever you can remember. Work backwards. Often more will come back to you as you write, so you end remembering a lot more of a dream than you thought you did.

Hmm. Ill have to try the recorder idea. I dont think that i fully understand MILD. Its just setting a strong intention right? Ive done that and got no results.

Also if i had a lucid dream i really think i would remember it. You dont know how much i want to have one, and im sure if ANYTHING happens in my dreams that is somewhat lucid ill remember it

I want to have one so bad that it makes me want to

Haha the problem with the journals is that you have to wait until you sleep, and wake up to write in them

FOr example, for school days, i barly have time in the morning to get dressed and eat. I savour every minute of sleep. And i cant get on the computer and write about it in a long detailed post.

don't be so hard on urself.

since joining DreamViews i've LD'd a lot more. it helps- sort of a reminder. if you're here often enough, it brands the concept of LD in ur brain so you DILD more.

cool. your recall's good. i'd bet you'll have an LD soon.

edit: sometimes i go thru my journal looking for potential dream signs, then do a reality check when i find one.

same for me. 2 years. haha. but i've had a lot more since joining DV.

what's really helped me is realizing the most effective Reality check for me: question everything. let's say the reality check is pulling on your fingers. if you're dreaming, something weird is supposed to happen to your fingers. but weird things happen all the time when you're dreaming, and you never notice. so why should pulling on your fingers be any different?

however, if you look at the what happens to your fingers, then actually think about it, "is this logical?", then you increase yoru chances of realizing you're dreaming.

but usually i don't focus on my fingers or anything in particular. i'm just aware of everything around me and ask myself if everything is in order. in dreams, it's hard to just notice weird things. you have to question them.

Have you considered some of the supplements? There are people who say Galantamine and Choline are the greatest things since Christmas. I'm gonna try it myself. It should be arriving next week.

Also, maybe try some external cues. After a WBTB, set your cell phone to count down 10-15 minutes and then silently turn on its light. You should be asleep and dreaming and if the phone is right in front of your face, it might help make you lucid.

      Just some suggestions.
In dreams of unspeakable joy—of restored friendships; of revived embraces; of love which said it had never died; of faces that had vanished long ago, yet said with smiling lips that they knew nothing of the grave; of pardons implored, and granted with such bursting floods of love, that I was almost glad I had sinned—thus I passed through this wondrous twilight. —George MacDonald

Could you try the supplements when you get them and tell me if anything amazing happens?

Also, i tried the WBTB method last night. I set my phone to wake me from the 5 hour sleep at 4:30. I naturally woke up at 4. Weird. I stayed in bed to about 4:20, went to bathroom and started the WILD.

I just got sleepy and numb, and bored. SO i just turned over and went to sleep.

      nothing happened :/

Sure, I'll let you know. Here's another thread with other peoples' experiences. The majority of them were very impressed. That's why I decided to try it.

I looked around, but I couldn't find them at any store. I too wanted to avoid the hassle of mail order and just buy them at a regular store, but Galantamine just can't be found, not where I am at least.

Choline is pretty common though. But without the Galantamine to disrupt the mechanism that regulates how much goes Choline is in your brain, any excess you take will just be flushed out. You may have a deficiency, and if that's the case, Choline by itself would be beneficial. Choline is found in lots of foods though, so that's not likely.
