Weird thing that i've always been able to do

Ok, so I just learned about lucidity today. I've always done it, but I've never heard of it until now.

There's also one thing that I can do that I've not heard discussed on this forum.

Whenever I close my eyes, after about 30 seconds I begin to see images. I can then manipulate those images to what I want to see. This allows me to basically enter a "dream" state with out falling asleep, and with out SP or anything like that. I always use this to practice my dream powers. The brilliant part about it is that you don't have to fall asleep. Whenever you feel yourself falling asleep, just gain a little more concentration by moving a little bit or something. One problem with it is that it is not realistic. Everything is blurry and you don't feel any emotions or anything. But it is really useful for practice or "on the fly" lucid dreaming. It's not like a WILD, cause you don't actually fall asleep. I haven't gotten to the point where I can make myself hear things yet, but I can simulate that by just thinking what my DC's would say.

      thanks

This is probably HI, or hypnagogic imagery. HI is the usually the first thing that WILDers experience at the onset of dreaming. It is interesting that you can actually control these images because HI is known to be quite random.

Or just really fine-tuned visualizations. I have a hard time visualizing things, but I know that there are people that can just close there eyes and see something.

I'm a visual learner, but I never get HI before dreaming or anything like that. I think there are tutorials on the site to become more visual, though.

My partner recently told me that she is able to do something very similar to what you are describing, except her's are accompanied by sensations of her body vibrating, and she can't control what she sees. She said that is happens to her several times a day, often unbidden. She said the only way she has been able to stop it from happening is by doing or visualizing kata (karate forms).

My HI always starts out random, and catches me by suprise, but if I concentrate, then I too can control my HI. It's not a very direct form of control though; It's more like 'asking' my eyes/mind to display something and waiting and hoping it comes up, or holding an image in my imagination long enough for my HI to decide to mimic it.

hey as you I'm new to these and didn't know what lucid dreaming was till I signed up. After my sign up I never came back. this is my 2nd day on the forums really. But, as you do. the images I can create and manipulate them pretty good. But, can't actually get to SP when I do this.
