Dream journal & meditation -> awareness -> LD

I sometimes keep a dream journal but I know a lot of people don’t. I would like to encourage others to keep one if they are serious about Lding though. The reason is “awareness.” To me, without awareness there will be no lucid dream. If a person has a little awareness they will be able to remember a dream better. More awareness will equal wondering if one is dreaming. Even more awareness lets a person know they are dreaming and start to control it. It doesn’t stop there though. Even within the dream, the more awareness a person can muster up, the longer, clearer, and more intense the dream will be. In a way, awareness is almost like juice for a “dream muscle.”

There are other ways to increase awareness though. One can just become in touch with the senses during the day taking time to see the beauty, smell the freshness, taste the spice, and, feel the texture of life.

A third and to me maybe even more important way to increase awareness is through meditation. Many different disciplines have rich meditation traditions to draw from and as far as I am concerned most if not all of the big established meditation traditions have a lot to offer. In fact, many of my first experiences with lucid dreaming came as a result of dozing off during meditation. I would also be willing to assume that if there was a poll taken that the heavy-duty lucid dreamers on this board are much more likely to either meditate regularly or have tried so in the past.

I've had way more lucid dreams of types than i can count, and i can say for sure I have been into meditation on and off for awhile now. Awareness is a very good think to have ^^

In order to truly experience something, you have to be aware of it. The best way to experience lucid dreams? Be aware of them. How do you become aware of lucid dreams? Be aware of your regular dreams. How do you be aware of those? By being aware in your waking life on a day to day basis and building a solid dream recall from the bottom up...
Paprika: Don't you think dreams and the Internet are similar? They are both areas where the repressed conscious mind vents.

John Lennon: I believe in everything until it's disproved. So I believe in fairies, the myths, dragons. It all exists, even if it's in your mind. Who's to say that dreams and nightmares aren't as real as the here and now? Reality leaves a lot to the imagination.

Thankyou for this topic Something Else, it is all true. I don't think Roguext22 knows what they are talking about.

I find meditation is a very good way to increase awareness, but not too often as it takes some time.

well...still this thread should be closed.Because everyone is obsesed with techniques..how to attain that..how to attain this.. no one cares, that technique is only for those who are ready.People dont even need try/do technique to become wild.. or ld.The key was awareness.

Now finally someone noticed its awareness that makes us know what we dream.Well done columbas

Thanks for the support and I just am now laughing off the negative comments. I think roguext22 was really quick to call me a lier. For a moment, I might have even felt a little like one of the politicians currently running for office. :-) I made a comment about awareness helping out with lucid dreaming, but apparently according to roguext22 now I am supposedly talking about all kinds of different techniques, (which I did no such thing) and have somehow became an expert saying the only thing that is important is awareness. (Again, I think to say I said such a thing is to either misread what I said or have not taken the time to read it well in the first place.)

From my opinion. What roguext22 wanted to say (maybe in not as polite manner), is, that people here are obsessed with using techniques and dont understand one factor. And that is, that nothing can be absolutised.

Still I dont think you are forcing ideas to other people. You are just showing your own way how you perceive it. For me. It would be superb, if we continued this topic just to collect a lot of information about meditation and LD.

Could you please tell us, what were you trying to tell us with the topic? Were you trying to inform us? Or do you plan to continue with this topic?

BTW. I dont mean to offense. Just curious.
