Unhappy We Just Can't Seem To Do It

No matter how much I try, I just can't WILD. I've waited to post this because I decided it would be best to read the responses from other WILD threads. But I've found no help there.

I've tried pretty much everything. Nothing works. Here is a list of things that I've tried:

      • WILDing before bed
      • WILDing after a WBTB (Varies from 3 hours of sleep to 6)
      • Counting my breaths
      • Just breathing
      • Visualizing my dream
      • Focusing on the lights in my eyelids
      • Not focusing on them
      • Listening to music
      • Inducing a "sinking" or relaxing feeling
None of those have worked. The closest I have gotten was when it feels like I'm being moved around from side to side, and my heart beats really hard. But then it fades away. People have told me that it's not the end and that I should keep going, but since that advice I haven't been able to reach that point again.

      Any help is appreciated.

*Edited title to include the other people who can't seem to WILD.

Yep, I'm in the same boat. I'd appreciate some help too.

      I'm in that club too.

I only managed to have several DILDs and they were...poor.

Believe you can or believe you can't... either way, you're right.

Have any of you ever worked with auto suggestion? I know it sounds sort of lame, but try to buy a watch from the dollar store that beeps on the hour. And every hour when it beeps do a reality check (plugging ones nose and trying to breathe tends to be the most effective, for me atleast) and tell yourself "tonight I will have an incredibly vivid dream and will become lucid, I will also wake up after all of my dreams so I can pen them down."

This worked wonders for me, and I tend to have a somewhat even blend of DILDs and WILDs per night.
      WILDs - 38
      MILD/DILDs - 44
      VILDs - 8
TILDs - 1 (Thirst Induced Lucid Dream, never going through that experience again...)
Total: 98 - So close to the big 100

Yeah, I do autosuggestion every night. It often works for recall, but never for lucidity. Oh wait, once i did spontaneously do an RC in a dream the first night I autosuggested I would remember to do an RC. Since then though, no.

Good idea with the watch though. I can set my timer to beep every half hour. That should get this RC thing firmly embedded in my mind.

I do auto-suggestion every night, but sometimes it's hard to really believe it.
      It goes like this....

My mind's "channel one" is thinking:
"Tonight I will have a lucid dream, it will be extremely vivid and I will know that I'm dreaming. It's easy to have a lucid dream."

      while "channel two" is thinking:
"Right, I'm doing this only because of auto-suggestion."

      ..."channel three":
"This is no use, I'm a failure, it won't work, it's not gonna happen."

      ..."channel four"
"Damn that girl was mighty fine..."

Lol you get the point, it's hard to convince myself with auto-suggestion.

And about reality checks...I don't do them by a schedule, but every time I see something strange, I ask myself am I dreaming and it worked several times, that's how I became lucid with DILD method anyway.

Btw, auto-suggestion DID help me lots of times with my dream recall, even to the point where I could remember dreams every night, up to 9 dreams per night.

I do the same thing, Erinn. It's hard to really believe in them, there's always that litte voice in your head that doubts it.

However, all this autosuggestion talk is kind of irrelevent. It works wonders for DILDs, but for WILDs, it's not going to cut it.

We all need help on WILDing, not DILDing, but thanks for the help anyway!

WILDing is much more effective and more surefire than DILDing. I wouldn't cut out DILD methods all together, but I would focus more on learning to WILD effectively.

That's what I'm doing. I'm trying to learn to be effective at WILDing, and when I become proficient enough, then I will shift more of my attention to DILDs.

I still need help however. Anyone else have some ideas?

Hey Sean. Try looking at the biological side of things.

As you are lying there, completly still. After about 20-30mins, depending on how tired you are, you maybe feel very uncomfortable, or even very itchy. This is your body testing to see if your mind is awake, because the body will not sleep if it 'knows' the mind is awake, its for survival reasons or something.
After this passess, then all the crazy SP stuff happens.

Make sure your are very tired, lie on your back, arms by your sides, and stay and still as possible, and relaxed obviously. Endure the will to move, and it will come. Its not a question of 'if' it will come, its a question of 'when'.

I find thinking about this easier. You can have doubts of autosuggestion, hypnosis or whatever other stuff there is, but you cannot doubt biology.

I see you've had 7 total LD's. Personally, I would focus on DILDS for a while as they are generally considered easier.

With that said, I think the best advice I can give you is learn how to use Galantamine and Choline. I have had very few WILDS naturally, Everyone's brain chemistry and sleep cycle is slightly different. But with that drug combo I get lucid almost 100% of the time, generally as WILDS.

I've tried the lay completely still method where I tried to not focus on the itches and discomfort. And I do feel I get closer with this method than I do when I focus on comfort and scratch itches and shift my position, but still no WILDs. It can't be just completely a matter of biology. There must be some brain activity aspect to it that keeps me awake, because though I'm not thinking extreme sports or anything super exciting, I've always tried to stay pretty aware when trying the remain-still approach, and I'm unable to get to sleep at all.

I've also tried G+C. It's gotten me some DILDs, and once I WILDed inside a dream, but I've never gotten it to work for a normal WILD.

The rule is... The more you try, the better your chances are. But if you try too much, no WILD... noo wild.

I managed to move into sleep paralysis accidentally. But it was after maybe 30 times of unsuccessfull attempts. It was when i was travelling by train. I didnt have enough sleep.

You know, what helped me? I was bad at visualisation and now i found a technique called image streaming. Using this technique, i no longer thing about my body, which was the core of the problem. Now as i am more focused on images, i no longer think about body and it goes somehow from itself.

Okay, tell us about this image streaming. We're desperate.
