Are FA's progress?

Since starting on my quest to become a lucid dreamer the last two months or so, I've seen my dream recall improve, and I've also had a couple of briefly lucid experiences. I also seem to be having numerous FA's. Haven't seen this question addressed directly -- but is that a good step in the right direction, are FA's a step towards becoming lucid more regularly? Most of the FA's have come after attempting to WILD, or within a few hours after attempting to WILD.

Hi PRider,

Congrats on the improved recall. And, yes, I believe the FA's are certainly a step in the right direction. Now that you're aware they are more frequent, all you need to do is perform reality checks every time you wake up. Eventually, you'll do a RC in one of your FA's and - you'll be lucid!

Thanks Joe! You are right about the RC's, and I was a total idiot yesterday morning during my FA. I was SO SURE I was awake in bed, and did not want to "disturb" my attempt to WILD and go back to sleep, that I did not perform the RC and completely missed it. Way to go!! I'll make a habit of doing a RC every time I wake up, that's great advice I haven't seen before.

Yup FA's are progress! Congrats, you're getting there! Don't worry about not RCing, we all do silly things like that. Sometimes FA's are so realistic you don't see the point in it!

My false awakenings always feel like im like 1% away from being lucid. Like this morning, I thought for sure I was awake. I was explaining to my girlfriend the nuances of Tibetan Dream Yoga. Or a couple days ago, I was in a FA telling her about how I can time travel in my lucid dreams. Lucid dreaming always seems to be on my mind in my FAs, even though I never do a reality check.

Its like my mind misunderstands "becoming aware in your dream", and worngly interprets it as "waking up in your dream". Like I should be lucid, but I'm just too much of an idiot.

Nice progress. Your lucky having so many FAs. Get into an RC upon waking habit and you'll be set.

I already do an RC every time I wake, but I've only had one FA and that was before I started RCing.
This morning I thought I had one, but it was only the early dawn light filtering through under my curtains and making everything look a bit strange. Damn.

Hi, definately!...FAs IMO means U've become more aware of Ur surrounding...the next thing U may want to try is inducing lucids from FAs but from what other people here experience they can get long lucids from FAs but I can't...I do get lucid but it dosen't last long enough to do anything... Hope Ur not like me.....
