WILD Tech - Daydreaming method - To SP

Let me say a few things first. I did not intend to post this tutorial here, but I could not post in the tut section. I have had a few ask me my technique, so instead of literally telling each person, I would rather have it documented. Let me add that I have not been successful in reaching to the dream world through WILD, however I AM able to reach SP at will. Most people have difficulty reaching SP, so that is why I find my method useful, rather than a counting method. <- Just keeps me awake the whole time, and irritated.

So then, moving on to the method. I call it the daydreaming method for a reason. The reason being is that you simply imagine a fantasy, like a story in your head, playing. I haven't gone into great experimenting on which kind of daydream works best, I would say one that you can interact easiest. A few variables that you need to be aware of.
-You need to lightly apply conscious thinking to your daydream.
-Sexual fantasies may not be the best way, I never do it this way.
-Adventure based daydreams are probably the best for distracting your mind to fall asleep.

The trick is, is to literally follow the daydream consciously for as long as you ever did before, rather than trying to fall into sleep with it. For me, I imagine my old school, and I am running from a guy trying to kill me, so I imagine myself entering all the different rooms, hiding from him, maybe even shooting him with a paintball gun. Unusual, but it works. Sometimes you may find your daydream shifts to other things, weird things you never consciously created. This is fine, because the trick of this method is to keep the mind awake for as long as your daydream allows, until you slightly fall asleep, then BAM SP! It definitely startles you, because you usually fall asleep after a bit, but just before SP happens, therefor you are half asleep when entering SP.

This may vary for people, I as a kid always experienced scary SP events never knowing what they were. This was a result in too much daydreaming before falling asleep. It is sort of like trying to stay daydreaming consciously as long as possible, not letting go, until eventually you do. The goal is to reach the "near point" of SP, so that you may be startled awake by sensations and loud noises. It is not very common that I daydream the entire time without falling asleep, I usually do but I am still awoken by SP.

A good daydream scenario would be:
-Flowing, like flowing for me would be doing flips dodging food plates in a food fight. It must flow, low mental work is crucial.
-Adventurous so that you don't lose interest, and you don't lose things to do.
-Big places, meaning try and start off your daydream with maybe a well-known place, the larger the better. (Thats why my old school is perfect, I remember mostly every room on every floor visually.)
-Not a lot of speech, I am not saying it is bad to have speech, just a lot of movement to stimulate senses is good.
-Visualize, make sure you visualize the building as best as you can while staying relaxed. This isn't extremely important if you know the building very well, but it can help keep the mind awake longer. (Optional.)

With all this, I say good luck, and move this to where ever it belongs. Remember :
The goal - To keep the mind stimulated, awake, and not bored for as long as possible. The only way to do this through daydreaming is by creating a brand new fun adventure each time. It is up to you to create scenarios and find what works best for you.

      Thanks for reading.

Very nice. I have never been able to enter SP. The only thing I know is counting which is terribly mundane.

Yes, to me its very distracting too. I find myself unable to relax and fall asleep. =P I always worry a bit while getting up to 100, because I find myself asking what to count to next! Also this method is best because you aren't worrying about the horrors of SP the whole time keeping your body/mind awake, rather you are fantasizing which relaxes you with no worries at all.

Maybe its just me but wouldnt daydreaming of being chased around by a killer put you in the wrong mental state to continue on to WILD after SP..? I mean would that not possibly trigger a negative type of dream rather than a neutral or positive one...

Honestly, I imagine myself being the hero. Everyones fantasies and daydreams are different, and no it doesn't put me in a negative state. It's a matter of perception, it is not scary by any means. It is free flowing, and well constructed for me. Ah and I have never had that happen to me, where it transformed into a dream. =/

If it is in the morning, then you can enter SP very fast from a daydream.

I just run my dream scenario over in my head like a normal daydream and before I know it I will be dreaming. (We are talking about 5 minutes)

This never works for me, I usually have to go through SP even after 5 hours of sleep. It is weird, how some may not consciously go through, but every time I use the daydream method, I end up in SP before a lucid.

I tried this last night, and I actually got it to work twice. I didn't manage to get a lucid dream, but I got damn close.

      TY for your technique.

This method sounds a lot like what I do. But I just let my mind wander normally rather than forming an active daydream. I do think I will try this tonight though Thanks for sharing

I agree. I have less control over my dreams if something scary is happening in them. I am horrible at control when I realize I'm dreaming in nightmares. I think the fear clouds my mind and makes me doubt my dream changing abilities too much. Because of this, if my HI is even the slightest bit creepy (like sometimes seeing evil faces) I'll stop trying to WILD because it wouldn't be a whole lot of fun anyway running from something and not being able to do anything about it

I'll probably try a daydream of something fun but that doesn't belong in a nightmare... Like flying a plane or something maybe

ahh.. im with you, this sound's promosing, and definatly wouldnt get boring.. keeping the mind occupied whils your body fall's asleep, and non of that, bringing the 5 sences into it.. that does my head in.. Thank's will try this to night.. Just one question?

Can you do this before going to bed??, or do you have to do this during a WBTB>>?? well i no you obviously can. But im just asking, for a person who has never WILD'ed before, after alot of attemp's i must add... Will this be difficult for me personally?? iv'e only ever DILD'ed, never WILD, or FILD.. or aneything, i think i might have VILD'ed a few time's by accident.. but it doesnt count.. so?, is it possible to do at say, 11pm when im tired enough to fall asleep within 10 - 15 - 20.. minutes???

Nice guide! It sounds a lot more fun to do than counting over and over again. I'll try it out later!
Btw, does SP guarantee a successful WILD, or does it just signal that you're on the right path?

I am glad everyone likes my guide and are finding it useful. I myself hardly do it just because I don't prefer WILD's and also my schedule has been tied up a bit. Not much dream recall lately either, hopefully I will be able to do it soon though to test out some other stuff.

As for my daydreams being scary? They usually fade into other daydreams, ones I don't even remember creating myself, and they are usually not scary. <- That is probably my HI kicking in though. So I believe you can freely daydream about anything and it will change anyway.

      Now for the questions:

Can you do this before bed?

I do. Some say that thye can't do it, but others claim they can. I suppose you could condition your body to go through SP to reach REM sooner? I am not positive, and neither is anyone else. I especially cannot say because I have only reached SP at the beginning of bed, it is just a bit slower.

      Does SP signal or guarantee?

It does not guarantee, I would peg it as a sign, I love whenever I reach SP through my method. It shows I am making progress. I have had more SP events than DILDs if that says anything.

I am usually able to go through SP 5-6 times if I wake up in the middle of the night (which is what I try to avoid). If I go to sleep at the beginning, I usually fall to sleep and get one SP if I really pay attention and focus. For some reason, a lot of the time I go through SP without wanting to, it just happens. These are the times in which I attempt to relax and get through it.

I hope I helped, any more questions feel free to post here. ^_^

Same with me. I wake up early and just daydream for a bit. Things start to form around me and I have complete control over whats going on. I feel conciousness in the normal world too, its as if I am half in my dream and half still awake lying in my bed in the morning. Its a weird feeling when people start talking and you start interacting while knowing you are still actually lying down. I'm new to the whole lucid dreaming thing, but correct me if I do say something wrong.

I have experienced this, it is what I believe a HI. I tend to know I am awake, but I can still watch this realistic movie in my head, and I can still move if I wanted. This however is gone after I hit SP, and everything goes dark.

Same here. I'm able to create an extremely vivid day dream type thing after I wake up. I have complete control over everything. It's awesome and not as hard to recall as a real dream.

Yes it is a great way to induce LDs naturally.

A couple other posts that have already discussed this too:

thats called DEILD, and its not going INTO SP, its just STAYING IN SP.

anyway, i think this sounds good, because i daydream a lot, i just need ot know one thing, if your mind changes halfway through, do you roll with it and go with that scenario instead of original, or should i backtrack to the original one?

Wow, didn't expect this old dusty thread to come back to life. To answer some questions now.

      @slash112,

Roll with it of course, it would be detrimental to force anything when it comes to lucid dreaming.

      @Sil3nt,

To be honest, your on your own with that one. It is different for everyone, and I find that just staying mellow helps. Like, try to be patient during SP, as annoying as it is and can be. A lot of times I try to force an image after I believe SP is over with, I have found this to be more of a destruction than a help. So from my experience, I say mellow out and stay aware at the same time, don't force anything. Let it flow, and stay aware of all of it.

Try OBE. Let gravity pull your body through the bed.

Nice technique, I'm definitely trying this when I wake up in the night. (I usually do that). I already use this to get to sleep. Now just to use this while conscious
