Is there a way to induce a false awakening?

My first lucid dream was a couple of days ago. It was when I was in a false awakening: after I wrote down notes from the dream I did a reality check and found out that I was dreaming. I also noticed that whenever I have a FA I'm more likely to do a reality check. This is because in real life, I constantly do RCs in bed throughout the night. For my normal dreams, I don't ever think of doing a reality check at all. So I was wondering whether there is a way to dream of a false awakening so that it increases my chances of becoming lucid.

Well for me FA's seem to be very realistic, and I seems to reality check a lot more when the dreams are realistic. Possibly

I forget if I mentioned this to you. Dream masks such as the Nova dreamer tend to induce false awakenings for many people. The most cost effective one I know of is the REM Dreamer. As I recall it was about $170.00

My experience with this device is I fall asleep, the lights go off and wake me, but in actuality, it's a FA.

However, my brain tended to pick up on this over time and reverted to simply waking for real.

I put some paper tape over the lights to reduce the brightness to even less than the minimal amount, and still - it tends to wake me.

So for me, the effcetiveness of that strategy decreased over time.

I tried that once a long time ago but it didn't work. I'll try it again though, thanks for the suggestion

James, I remember reading about this in one of your posts in a FA thread (I went through many ). I've actually been looking for one on ebay...I looked at the remdreamer website too but that's still a bit too expensive for me.

I was going to get a nova dreamer but decided not too because of money issues (broke). But I was reading a lot about it so I wouldnt waste $170 and I found out a few things. You should wear it for two week then not wear it for two weeks, so that your brain doesnt get used to it.

It's this device invented by Stephen Laberge. It's like a dream mask where you put on, and when you sleep it detects your rapid eye movements, which indicates that you're dreaming, and then flashes these lights so that they can enter your dream as cues.
