I was pondering over how to relax quicker and easier, and I heard about this thing. Most people know that if you breathe in through your nose and out through your mouth, it improves your air quality, and slows your pulse.

Well on TV (Brainiac Science Abuse) they showed that if you stick your thumb in your mouth, close your mouth, you'll look like an idiot. And more importantly, it makes your pulse drop like crazy when you try (as hard as your lungs let you) to breathe out, and you can become very relaxed. It activates some valve or nerve which causes this "phenomenon".

I tried this last night. And it is surprisingly heart-slowing. I found myself very relaxed.

As a side note:

In the same episode, they showed how better the mind and body perform when treated to a higher than normal exposure of oxygen. They showed, and presented results of a study that showed that the mind can often recall things much better whenyour oxygen level is higher. "These effects can last for over a day."

And many people know that if you breathe hard, deep and fast for half a minute or so then you get an oxygen rush.

Tonight I will try some sort of similar experiment. My hopes are that it will make my recall much more vivid. I will do the same in the middle of the night and when I wake up I will do it again.

Wondering if anyone has had any results with the above two mini-tips, and hoping that this might help people.
