It depends how seriously you take it. If you try for one night, and give up because it didn't work, then it won't help much. If you tinker with MILD, and make it more personal, giving it effort and persistence, then your idea will be quite helpful. (I say this is a MILD-type technique with visualization aspects).
But remember to give yourself reasons to know that you are dreaming. You could just say "I'm dreaming I'm at work, and I know this is a dream," over and over and over, but I'm betting that saying "I'm dreaming I'm at work, and naked. This shouldn't be possible, so I reality check to see if I'm dreaming" would be far more productive.
