I cannot honestly say "Yeah, this is the best method for you" without lying. Everybody is different. I would reccommend the reality check technique, its the most natural IMO, and easiest.

Well yeah, it is the best method for me.
Bye the way inducing lucidity through a reality check is also very effective but quite often those type of dreams only last a couple of minutes or seconds.
So i guess if you just want to have a lucid dream to see what it's like then go for that. But if your wiling to score big WILD,WBTB or VILD is your best bet.
Don't get me wrong You can have long LD's by reality checks but you might struggle since your a new comer.

Never take life seriously. Nobody gets out alive anyway.

I have never done any other technique other than being a natural, and reality checks. But I have the craziest, longest, funnest, LD's. I have LOTS of LD's so many its pretty much boring now. I can stay in them as long as I want, too. I was having lots of fun in an LD I remember(flying around, using my powers to shoot flames at people, etc ), and I didnt feel like leaving it, so I stayed in it the entire night until it was time to get up. I think, its just in your experience that reality check LDs are like that. Its not that this technique is any worse, its just it doesnt work for you. Everybody is different, and different things work for different people. RCs didnt work so well for you, but theres nothing that says the next guy wont be the most badass LDer because of it.

Sorry for arguing about it, I just didnt want to confuse any newbies. They might have gotten the impression that theres a "best technique" or something. There isnt, its what works for you.

In all the time I've spent reading and practicing the MILD technique has helped me out the best. Basically telling yourself that you are going to remember your dreams, or that you will wake up after every dream, or that you will become lucid in your next dream etc.. etc.. If you say it enough it will happen... My testament to this is that I haven't practiced lucid dreaming in the past 2-3 months and had virtually 0 dream recall during that time. 4 days ago I started back up and told myself a few simple statements when going to sleep and in the past 4 days I've remembered a minimum of 4 dreams each night, 2 very close Wild's (hit SP) and 1 LD. Ontop of that my body has woken up after every single dream I've had (many of which I've failed to write down) and on one night it woke me up before my alarm clock which was set for 5 hours after bed. So in my 4+ years and countless lucids later Mild'ing has help me the most looking back on it.

I'd say to try a DEILD. It seems easy for beginners. No staying awake waiting for SP...just staying still until another dream comes.

Yeah. Well as you can see, no best technique, and everybody has thier own that works for them. So my advice: pick wichever one you want, use it, and figure out what works for you.

If you are really committed to becoming lucid fast, you should attack it from every angle.

First thing to do, is be sure to keep your dream journal. Strive for nothing less than perfect recall. Every dream recorded!

During the day, do tons of RCs, and try to stay aware. Before you fall asleep at night, give yourself some autosuggestion/ MILD type affirmations. Wake up after 4-5 hours to do a Wake Back to Bed. When you go back to sleep, use a WILD method of your choice.

If you do this every day, you will definitely become lucid.
