Angry How Thick Can You Get?

Well done me. So, last night, I had a dream I remembered upon awaking. Nearish the end, a character came in and she explained that she was a character in a novel, and it was clear she was dying. (?) Then, later, at the very end, right before I woke up, she came in again, perfectly healthy, and told me she was my dream guide. She then proceeded to explain to me all about LDing, lucid dreams, how to induce them, and so on. Really, pretty much everything I currently know about LDing, and told me I should do some RCs, but I blew her off because I didn't feel like it. How thick can you get? Does anybody have any ideas on how to be not so incredibly thick in dreams? If you do, that would be greatly appreciated. In return, I can most likely give you a few tips on something else if you want it, and, if not, I can point you in the direction of a thread that will help you. Thanks in advance.

Someone told me that it's a big step when your dreams are ABOUT lucid dreams. Before you go to bed just think...what, logically? I dunno. I'd say you're close.

This is good. Lucid dreaming is beginning to seep into your dreams. Keep doing what you are doing. Perhaps try doing an RC whenever someone mentions LDing?

Wow that would frustrate me beyond all words if I were in your place! Sorry!

As for being more intelligent in dreams, that's hard one. When you are asleep, it is believed that parts of your frontal lobe (responsible for logic, high order thinking, reasoning, etc.) are 'shut down'. Becoming lucid certainly wakes part of it up. But I think the degree to which your frontal lobe is active may correlate to how lucid the dream is.

So how to get yourself more awake? Maybe deepen the lucidity of your dream. If you arn't lucid in the first place, I guess that would be the first step. XD Just become lucid! How much easier said than done is that? But if you are lucid already, maybe things like spinning or looking at your hands can clear your head, so to speak, and bring you to greater understanding.

But since I gather your problem was that you DIDN'T become lucid, I dunno what to tell you really. Perhaps when you do reality checks you should be more critical and really weigh the evidence for or against reality or dreaming. Not sure what else might do the trick.

By the sounds of things, you're really close now. I have dreams almost every night where I think to myself "am I dreaming?" but blow it off as well. Most of the time my reality checks fail, too!
Having a dream guide around to help trigger lucidity would be awesome though. I could definitely make use of one of those.

Sounds like my thread on stupid things DSs do. Yeah, my guy/I is/am very... slow sometimes.

My hypothesis is that consciously analyzing your weak points and wanting to change them should do just that, especially if it's supported with self-suggestion. I've found my dreams have been a little more coherent and reasonable since I started doing that, although the last couple nights have got me wondering.

Sorry, I can;t really help you. Not to take over your thread or anything, but my typical dreamself is as thick as a brick coated with multiple layers of a high-density polymer until it is really, really thick. And even when it is not being dense, and actully remembers that >UNUSUAL THINGS MEAN YOU"RE PROBABLY DREAMING< it doesn;t seem to have anywhere tnear the imagination of my waking self. I'd greatly appreciate if you could help L_D_W, and, by extension, me.

my dreams are always like that. my dream character is unable to be fooled by the obvious or weird things that happen in dreams. i could be lucid ALL the time in EVERY dream i have EVER had. i find it boring is why i never become lucid.

imagine already knowing whats going on from the start, but ya never admit to yourself that ya know. that is me every time. maybe i should try being lucid for once.

I hate when stuff like that happens. In one of my dreams I told a dream character that he could be dreaming since he thought he was lost, and then in the same dream I was telling someone else about it and how stupid it was that I didnt realise that I was dreaming.

Tell me about it, once I was dreaming I was in a class that was talking about lucid dreaming, the teacher was going round the class asking everyone for their lucid experiences and I was telling them some of mine and tips for how you can realise you are dreaming! I didn't of course though. I wonder how I can ever get lucid if a huge hint like that doesn't make it happen! I have had many though, going through a bit of a dryspell at the moment though it seems

I have noticed that in a lot of my lucids it's like I have a one-track mind. In real life I have loads of things I want to try out in a lucid, but once I get lucid my mind seems to be only focused on one task unless I think hard about the other things I want to do.

Anyway advice, well I would say the best way would be to just do reality checks anytime you see anything unusual and anytime anyone talks about dreaming etc and hopefully it will carry over to your dreams. I rarely heed my own advice though which is probably why I'm having a dryspell right now.

      P.s- Reality check now!
