Stimlate your dream senses. The underlying theory here is that the more attention you give to the dream, the more vivid and stable it becomes. (The inverse is also true, by the way: the quickest way to wake yourself up is to ignore the dream and think about waking life.) There are number of ways to stimulate your dream senses, popular ones include:
- Dream spinning (literally spin around in a circle in your dream)
- Rub your hands together
- Shout
- Smell the air
- Taste something
- Run your hands over surfaces - feel the textures around you
