That's just audio hypnagogia. It's a normal part of a WILD. Ignore it. It means you're another step closer to entering the dream. (It's a good thing.) |

well evangela let me welcome you to dreamviews. hope you find what you're lookin for. anyway its perfectly normal. those are auditory hallucinations (hearing things that aren't there). its all in your head and its part of wilding/sp. it probably wasnt a car. when i go to sleep with earplugs, it happens to me alot. for example I might hear someone shouting my name very loud, loud screeching like you said (that's usually the one that happens most),a loud drum beating, or voices. your not crazy, its normal for sp/wilding. like wakatadreamer said, it means you're closer to entering the dream. keep at it, and stay enthusiastic. don't fear it, embrace it. |

Yeah that's right, just auditory hallucinations associated with Sleep Paralysis. The thing about auditory hallucinations is that they can range from a bunch of loud, inaudible noises to full-fledged conversations! So its very easy to become startled by all this; but you have to learn to try and ignore them when you're WILDing though. Once you keep practicing the WILD technique, you'll become more accustomed to the extremities of SP. |

Haha, sounds scary |

You shouldnt have given up on it so early. You should give WILDs a little bit more than 10 minutes. And you shouls try doing them after about 5 hours of sleep (WBTB); they work a lot better that way. |
|
Thanks, I will try that tomorrow (it's 1:31 AM here in the Netherlands, so a bit too late). |

thankyou all for the help, but i have another quesiton....you know that stage during WILDing where you feel like you REALLY need to move, what happens if you've tried WILDing for around say 1 hour and then theres this little pain that grows and grows until its unbareable. What do i do then? Its really fustrating having to wait that long and then have something like that happen aswell.... |

That wasn't an actual WILD. You just reached the Hypnagogic state, where visual and auditory hallucinations are the norm. The curious thing about Hypnagocic imagery is that it always come with the knowledge that you are dreaming. You automatically know what you are experiencing is not real. |

I hate when that happens. Usually you try to fall asleep before this starts to happen; but if or when it does, you have to try to ignore. You have to remember that its your body testing you to see if you're awake. Your body knows that you wouldnt react to this pain/comfortableness if you were unconscious, so you have to try and "forget" about it. Another thing that could be causing this is when parts of your body starts to fall asleep; so try to keep all parts of your body even in means of pressure (ex. dont lean on one side more than the other), b/c not doing *so could lead to nerve compression, which can be painful and/or uncomfortable. |

thanks WolfeDreamer, i think it might be nerve compression, it normally feels like my arm/hand/leg (it varies) is on fire after the tingling. Maybe it will help if i lie down on my back rather than on my side. When im usually sleeping on my side i automatically swap sides when it begins to hurt while im dreaming. But thats a little harder if im WILDing. |
|
I had that too when I tried WILD. Felt like someone was pushing a needle further and further into my leg (heh). Was not very painful though, only reason I stopped because I had to go to the toilet |

No problem. |

I was wondering what that throbbing pain was in my wrist and hand when i was trying to WILD [after about 10 minutes of trying]. It felt as though my arm had its blood supply cut off but i wasn't leaning on it, as i was lying on my back |

DILD = 9
WILD = 0

Body Clock Experiment...
Yeah, the pain from nerve compression will definitely cut a WILD attempt short. I cant tell you the number of times that Ive failed a WILD b/c of this. |
