      WILD Help

So last night I tried to WILD. I went to sleep at midnight and woke up at around 6 am, got up, went to the bathroom and then to the kitchen to get something to drink. After like 10 minutes I went back to bed, started to relax certain points of my body and began couting my breaths. After a while my body began to feel really heavy, it felt so heavy that it was almost painful (i don't know if this has happened to anyone else), well, my problem is that I cannot get passed that point. This happens to me everytime I try to WILD. Last night I spent almost 30 minutes counting my breaths, feeling heavy and waiting for something else to happen until I just gave up. What am I doing wrong? What should I do once my body starts feeling heavy....should I just keep waiting?

I've been struggling with WILDS too.
I'm now quite familiar with ignoring the itches etc and getting the hot tingles up my body and just lying there not moving.

But I just end up staring into black space. I'm so bored counting backwards from 100.The time flies by too, so clearly im in some kind of altered state.

I tried WBTB instead, but just ended up like a wild. Staring at black.

The last one I tried to visualise walking down stairs. At every floor I looked at the sign.
I visualised it, I ran my mental hands across it, feeling the shape of the number.
Then down another flight telling myself heavier, heavier you're getting heavier. Fifty flights, and nothing!

I don't know, maybe I just need to let my self fall asleep and start counting my breaths at the tipping point.
But that seems like a risky proposition.

Any advice would be much appreciated.

Never wait for results, simply be a expectator during the oniric process. Wild it´s a two sides game, you must stay conscious(minimal possible) but you can´t fall asleep(really?...).

For what you writed you were very near of the dream! That weird feelings are very common and it means that you very close of the dream state. Next time simple relax and let it come.

Another tip it´s not focus so much your anchor(counting breath in this case), the main paper of the anchor it´s help you not losing conscience, if you give it much atention will be harder to start dreaming. Counting breaths it´s excellent because prevent the random thoughts, and speed up the hypnagogic process.

WBTB should be controled too, for example i found wake for 1/2 minutes it´s only what i need to be confortably conscious during the WIld. Study your REM cycle (my main weapon to DEilds), will be very usuful to know when would be te best time to perform wild. If possible keep the same sleep schedule.

Finally wait, relax and every time after weird feelings or when you give up do a RC, sometimes you are already dreaming and you don´t know.

when you get to that point where you feel extremely heavy imagine just sinking through your bed and falling. just keep falling and let your hypnogogic imagery take you away. don't focus on it too much... more or less go with it and be halfway sleeping in a way but halfway conscious in a way. you can't let your mind be too active and conscious or it won't work.

This is good advice I think. I need to focus more on shutting my thoughts down as much as possible.

Tried WBTB with MILD this morning. Initially found it hard to go back to sleep, so ended up almost trying Wild by default.

I did actually have the hypnogogic imagery that everyone talks about.
Like watching a scene movie screen, you're not really in it.
I would swear they're black and white too (probably just because they are so vague). Which was a step in the right direction.

Next time I think I will try and forget my dream journal, not get up and go straight into Wild.

      1) Go to sleep at 10:00 pm.
      2) Wake up at 5:00 am
This change in time will reset your biorythm better than the 12am-6am and thus will extend your REM phrase after 5:00 am...you will get extra boost of growth hormone and serotonin.
      3) Bring your attention down to your stomach. Feel your abdomen expand and contract or feel your stomach touching your cloth as you count your breath. The point is to bring your attention DOWN. Feeling heavy in your body is the symptom of having your attention way too much on top and infront of your head.
      4) Hopefully while you are counting you will black out for a few seconds and the...............................well, I'll let you experience that for yourself....and don't forget to post your experience so we can congratulate you.

      Good luck,

My method is to stare into the blackness. I let my mind wander into whatever it will, and as soon as I start feeling REALLY tired I start to focus on the swirling black shapes. Really, it isn't blackness, and there are all kinds of cool colors and faces and stuff swirling around (go ahead, close your eyes now and try to tell me its all just black!). I usually feel some deep, heavy pull at this point, telling me I'm getting close to the dream world, and I will either get excited and pull back to reality or keep relaxed and fall into the dream.

The key for me is focusing on the shapes. This way, my mind isn't working too hard (i.e. methodically counting and waiting - I don't think that would work for me, too regimented and mathematical), but passively observing the cool pictures keeps me consciously engaged while my body completely relaxes. I think the "heavy almost to hurting" sensation you describe is like my "deep, heavy pull." You're probably getting close! When you feel that "different" sensation (you know what I mean), just try to relax and go with it. If you perk up and become more alert, which is the knee-jerk reaction, you'll end up waking yoursef up.
