Once I'm lucid I forget what I want from my lucid dreams!

I don't think my waking life and lucid dream desires are the same!

In my waking life, I want nothing more than to become lucid and fly about everywhere, or at least try to! However once I'm in my dreams, my priorities seem to be entirely different - it's like I am a different person! I become vaguely lucid and I start doing stupid things that are nothing to do with any of my lucid goals!

Anyone else have the same problem or anything?
      Always question reality...
      Lucid Goals:
      1. Build up my dream recall and become extremely lucid
      2. Find a magic wand and start casting spells
      3. Fly (of course) but also create stupidly high slides up in the air with the clouds and ride on them until I get bored
      4. Practice karate with a pro

I have the same problem somewhat, only reversed. Because of this I have labeled myself a "Spontaneous Flier".

But what has worked for me is saying out loud what I want to do in an LD. And I say it out loud often. This way I never forget, and I find it does transfer into my dream. Think of it as the ultimate form of Autosuggestion.

Yep, i know what you mean. Right before i sleep i think to myself i will become lucid, but i always forget to become lucid. I guess a way to remember that you're dreaming is to remember the last thing that you did before you started dreaming, try to remember that you fell asleep and that your dream isn't real. And do a reality check, as soon as the dream starts, jump and test the gravity, maybe that'll work.

Good idea - whatever it takes to form some sort of continuity between what you desire in real life to what you desire in a dream. I think it's about forming a stronger link between both worlds emotionally and just mentally really.

Topten35, did that work for you? Trying to remember you're dreaming as soon as the dream starts, and doing reality checks? I have been trying to do this for ages, every night when I go to bed but to no avail. It almost feels as if my mind has other things it needs to dream about and is saying 'screw you and your flying, I need to dream about giant bath tubs and dancing bananas
      Argh!

Well i haven't had the chance to try it yet because last night either i had a dream and didn't remember, or i just didn't dream at all, i hate when that happens. But if i remember in my dream to do the gravity thing and if i remember to, i'll post it here and tell you if it worked.

But i just remembered, whenever i want to become lucid, i look at my hand particularly the right hand since i'm right handed, and it always has more than 5 fingers on it. And the other "reality check" that i use is to look for my dream sign which is my old neighborhood in my old state, that though only worked once although i only tried it once. The other times i would dream about my old neighborhood i usually forget to become lucid. I forget a lot in real life to.

is it possible that you're just having a dream about being lucid?

about a week or 2 ago i had a lucid dream. i was aware that i was dreaming and decided to fly but i forgot bout the part that i wanted to do something really bad in a lucid dream. also while i was in the air, i tried calling for my dog to come up. "Come on Copper, you can do it", instead of just imagining him flying up.

i was aware bout a minute later that i was losing the dream, so i decided to spin like the mask and i also tried looking at my hand to gain control again but i failed.

i am guessing that not all lucid dream you are fully concious although people do report thinking in full clarity as how they would if they were awake. both you and i just need more experience.

Yes I think you're right - I am dreaming that I'm lucid, as opposed to actually being lucid. I sometimes gain low levels of lucidity but lose it again and get distracted. I get so ditracted in dreams - I am like it real life too. Perhaps if I try not to be like that in real life it will carry over into my dreams...

ummm, last time I checked this is what everyone tries to do? The definition of a lucid dream is being aware in present time inside the dream. How ever, dream control is totally different and that's what most people strive for to get out of lucid dreams.

haha yeah im the same way. all day while awake, i think of how in my next LD i just wanna relax, feel the grass, taste something, maybe listen for sounds and possible do a million reality checks, just for the heck of it. But once im lucid i start flying, and killing, and doing magic. all the time.

ill try your "out loud autosuggestion" but people might think im crazy talking about that to myself
      am i dreaming?
