      Question Question about DEILDing

What exactly do you think about while you are lying there with your eyes shut having just woken up from a dream? Are you trying to empty your mind of all thoughts in an attempt to simply drift back to sleep? Or should you think about the dream scene you were just in? Can someone explain this part of the process? Also, assuming you do drift back to sleep are you likely to lose lucidity?

      Thanks

I just think of returning to the dream, always lucid, but of course, there is no 100% saying, so it may fail sometimes.

      I do this, as well.
Let's say I'm dreaming about being in a kitchen and cooking my favorite dish. I start to wake up, and try everything to stay in the dream, but it fails. I know I'm waking up, and most likely will comepletely wake up. Usually, everything turns black. I keep still, and I don't move a muscle. I definitely don't open my eyes. I just concentrate on the dream. I concentrate on exactly what I was doing when the dream faded. Most of the time I go right back into it, with a "Yeah! I didn't wake up!", lol.

My suggestions are to try not move at all, and try to concentrate on what you were dreaming. Definitely, don't open your eyes.

Thanks everyone. Hopefully I'll get a chance to try it tonight.

Misbijoux has it right. For me it helps to try to feel or hear things since that seems to come first for me, but I also try to visualize the dream i was just in. I will usually try to feel things either that were in the environment I was in as well even though I can't see them.

Oh yeah, I do that, too. If I was walking through sand, I try to feel the sand on my feet. Or if I'm hugging someone, I try to feel how their embrace feels.

Yes, for me feeling things even if I can't see them seems to work. In fact, I think it even works better than visualizing.
