      Arguing with my Dreams

During a dream I realized that I was dreaming and did a reality check. I was able to hover above the ground so I knew I was dreaming. My mom was in the dream with me and I turned to her and asked her if I was dreaming. At first she said no, but I argued until she finally agreed that yes I was dreaming. I was wondering if anyone else has experienced dream people trying to trick you.

Yes and they even succeed in tricking you sometimes depending on your dream awareness. there are times I didn't get lucid even if my dream guide yelled it on to my face.

      Strange
Jujutsu is the gentle art. It's the art where a small man is going to prove to you, no matter how strong you are, no matter how mad you get, that you're going to have to accept defeat. That's what jujutsu is.

once when I was very young I had a dream about some very rude character that came into my house and started insulting me- I asked him if I was dreaming and he said something like "no of course not! what are you- stupid?"

Yes, a few times some dream characters have disagreed with me about whether or not I was dreaming. It's pretty amusing to convince them otherwise, one instance I recall shoving my arm through a guy's stomach as proof. Needless to say, he was pretty shocked.

SleepyCookieDough, a dream guide is a dream character who essentially helps you, usually in lucid dreams. They're usually described as different from other dream characters by their intelligence / knowledge that you're dreaming. There's a lot of debate as to what a dream guide really is, whether it be your subconscious interacting with you, or if there even is such thing as a dream guide as opposed to just a regular dream character you summon. Imo, a dream guide is what you make of it. There's lots more discussion on this to be found at various places on the forum, and I think a tutorial about finding your dream guide in the tutorials section.

I personally see it as part of my sub-conc that has form in my dreams. This is because she appeared many many years ago before I knew the term dream guide. Also, I like to conversate with her. Sidenote, her appearance has remained same for all these years, I have never tried even thinking of changing her in lucid dream.

Of course this is just my point of view and there is no reason arguing over it

Yeah, my dream character mom does the same thing. If I tried to ignore it, she sometimes ended up chasing me (other times, we'd just keep arguing). I usually wouldn't ask her if it was a dream, though. She'd just say something like "Where do you think you're going?" and then I'd explain myself. If she didn't believe me, she'd chase me or block the way. What was the argument like?

Anyway, it stopped happening because of two things: 1. I told my real life mom about lucid dreaming, and reality checks. I easily got her to agree that doing reality checks in a dream pretty much proved that you were dreaming. 2. Instead of arguing in the dream, I'd say "Look, mom. My finger goes through my hand, so I know this is a dream. See you later."

Also, don't ask the dream characters. They act as people do in real life. If you were to ask a real life person if it was a dream, they'd probably say no (unless they were interesting!). Dream characters respond the same way. If you want to mess with the dream characters by asking them that question, I suggest you do so only when you are 100% confident that you are correct (otherwise, you risk losing lucidity) before you start.
