      concentration

i can never concentrate on one thing at a time, my mind always wanders off onto something else or i start singing to myself. i can sometimes concentrate, which were the times i was able to become lucid, so i know that all i need is to be able to concentrate well. does anyone know ways to do this.

Do something to keep your mind occupied. Count each breath you breath out

Practise your concentration by doing daily exercices such as I've once read that you can use a rubber glove to pull on it and release for a minor-painful slap on the hand to keep your mind from wandering.

I drink a half cup of coffee. Otherwise I'm too groggy to concentrate.

The key to concentration is practice. As with any other skill, lengthening your attention span will require effort. Why not try meditation? Breathe in and out, and focus on awareness (focus on your body, mostly. If other thoughts start to distract you, be aware of them, acknowledge them, and passively let them go). I particularly like this guide (it starts slow, because it's a workshop. But it is a Google employee workshop, so you know that it's for realz).

Anyway, start meditating for 10 minutes, every day. Try to lengthen it to 30 minutes over the course of a couple months. If you feel particularly distracted one day, you can shorten the session, but no shorter than where you were last week!

Once built, you can easily transfer this focus to anything you do, be it lucid dreaming or school, or work. Keep at it!

Meditation doesn't just clear up your mind either

For me, If also helps me remember dreams way much better like up to 3-4 dreams.

How? Well, I kinda gave up on lucid dreaming so I also gave up on meditating. After a month or so, I was usually remebering only 1 short dream or none.
I thought I was having a dry spell
but I meditated ONCE(10 minutes) and everything came back to me

i watched that vid, and i tryed it out, i can concentrate much better while im doing it, but after ive finished it just goes again, i take it i just need to do it more, and on a daily routine, i only need to concentrate while going to sleep, tats all. and the guy in the vid said that you can fall asleep while meditating, but you can be aware that your falling asleep, since meditation really is just being aware of what your doing and thinking, so it makes sense. so really, its just an easy WILD, i ought to try it out, it might work, meditating myself into an LD.

if you try it most likely you will be rewarded in some way, for me i can meditate and in minutes my legs get fuzzy and its like a low level high in my legs, its enjoyable and if i wait long enough my body starts to tilt into my bed. its fun and rewarding.

I had the same problem but finally managed to fix it! Like mentioned before, the key is meditation.

A very easy meditation technique to improve concentration is keep your attention on your breath 24/7. This way, you will train your concentration 24/7. (This is the technique Buddha used to gain enlightment according to the stories)

It's good to meditate before an exam (it has worked well for me!). If you can visualize yourself being calm and alert, then you'll be at an advantage (as opposed to taking a test without meditation). I meditate in between study sessions to make sure I have a good hold on the material. Of course, it is different meditation than in the google vid.

I use the google vid's method when I'm meditating for the purpose of meditating... Glad it's helped you so far!

ok i did a bit of meditating a while ago, i took my mind off my toothache somehow. it was going normally, then all of a sudden, out of nowhere, i started to see and hear things, well, not hallucinations like, i knew they were in my head, i just saw imiges in my head of people i know, and i heard them talking, not through my eyes, it was just kid of like a really vivid day dream, but when i thought about how weird it was, they stopped, so it only lasted like 15 seconds. but it wa strange.

      Go to a DENTIST !!

      On a side note:
The fact we are all searching and have knowledge many others do not,
and that we are practicing and researching many areas of LDs and meditations etc, shows what a little knowledge and thinking away from the norm can do.
Amazing really, we have a little secret not many do.
We may be that bit more aware than others and utilise the most out of our lives.
