      reality check question

yay! it finally happened. i got myself to realize i was dreaming. the only thing is though, i just kinda realized. i didn't do any reality checks or anything which worries me. it was a random and sudden epiphany. is a reality check the only thing that can trigger constant LDs and i just got lucky this one time? or is it possible that i don't need a reality check to make myself realize i'm dreaming?

i never think of doing reality checks in my dreams all the lucid dreams i've had were by pure chance. i guess if you do them frequently and it gets planted in your subconcious, you'll eventually do one in a dream

hmmm...my problem is that I forget a LOT to do the checks even during the day. It's going to be hard to plant it in my sub conciousness

you should try getting a digital watch and set it to go off every hour or half-hour to remind yourself to do a reality check. good luck!

that dont work very well cos if you do that you get into the habit of checking every time a chime occours. When your in a dream you wont hear it, unless theres a chime ion your dream so you wont do any checks. The best way is to simply learn to check every so often. I just started and i check about 5 times an hour or whenever i remember to. it works really well.

the watch thing is supposed to help you get into the habbit of doing RCs so that eventually you will happen to do one while you're dreaming. but lots of ppl have different ways, so just find one that works well for you. i've heard of another RC where youjsut do one everytime you see your hands.

i've always had strange habbits, and for a long time i've just been always giving myself reality checks, not for the benefiets of lucid dreaming, before i was even familiar with the term. also, one of my personal dream signs is that i canoot scream, and a lot of times not move also. one time i was laying face down on my bed( This is part of a dream i thought was real) and i couldnt move. i didnt know why, questions as to why were going through my head, but then i tried to call out for my mom, i guesse cause her and my younger brother are home the most and of the 2, my mother would be the most dependent in an emergency situation. not being able to move was an mergency situation, but, i could call for my mother either, though i could hear myself say it in my mind. when i later woke up, i still hadnt realised that that was a dream, i thought it acually happened, even though i've had these screamless dreams before and realized it. so i asked my mom if she could here me screaming or y she didnt respond, and she said i hadnt called for her, then i realized that it had been a dream, and i told her about it, and said that i get them fairl frequently, and she told me that she also has the same experience fairly frequently, and has had them for a very long while(meaning since a long time ago). Does genetics play a role in this,or maybe liveing together just causes us to think alike? i dunno, its just another thing to think about, im not in the mood to branch out right now.................

Personally, Reality Checks for me don't work. Why? well because every time you do an RC you really have to question reality. You can't just look at your watch and say half-assed "Am I dreaming" You must question reality and consider if what you are doing now is a dream, everything in life must be approached with the thought of "Could this be a dream?"
Also it has to be a sustained effort, RC's every 30 mins for a few weeks before it becomes a habit, and even then you can't be sure if you will do one in a dream... but if RC's work for you then you should continue, everyones got different methods.

      reality checks

Reality checks have not worked for me either -at least not on a regular basis. Most of my dreams are simply so fantasy oriented and because I tend to be very analytical, I realize at random points during the dream that things occuring in my dreams could not happen in reality. It seems like the more I realize that, I become increasingly lucid and begin to test the boundaries of my control.

Btw - GEEZ LOUISE!! By now you guys should relize that if you get into the habit of expecting the chime to come and relizing that the chime symbolizes lucidity, you WILL (should) hear it in your dream. You can still hear stuff in the dream and I'm sure with the watch chime thing your expecting it to come all of the time and are ready for it...

They dont work for me usualy, my dreams are too damned real
its usualy a dream sign that works for me. But then even flying around I couldent come to beleive it was a dream, I was lucid, but I thought it was reality.. I guess im just dumb that way.
