      VILD Incubation Method

With VILD, the principle is to visualize yourself becoming lucid in a specific location, typically a "Dream Room". You can visualize yourself in the Dream Room with some friends who tell you it's a dream, or you can visualize yourself in the Dream Room doing a reality check and becoming lucid.

Because dreams are generated from visual memories, VILD can be improved by using photographs of a room that you enjoy being in, such as a room in your house or a friend’s house, but NOT your bedroom. Preferably a room containing interesting objects. If there isn't a suitable room available, consider using a room in an art gallery or museum. Take lots of photographs of the room from all angles and close-ups of the interesting objects.

Run the photos as a slide show on your computer before going to bed. Use the photos as computer wallpaper. Put photos on the bathroom mirror and in your bedroom or office. Look
at the photos and visualize yourself becoming lucid in the Dream Room. Think about becoming lucid in the Dream Room as much as possible throughout the day.

Of course, whenever you actually visit the Dream Room, you must always do a reality check. If the room is in your house or a friend's house, put a sign on the door: "Do A Reality Check Upon Entering!" Also do frequent reality checks when you are inside the room. Put signs on the wall: "Do A Reality Check Every 10 Minutes!"

Visualize the Dream Room as you fall asleep. As you persevere with the technique, you will find yourself thinking about the Dream Room more and more often until you dream about it -- and become lucid.

      Nice post, Zenvortex.

Because dreams are mostly generated from visual memories, VILD can be improved by using photographs of a room that you don’t habitually go to, such as a room in a friend’s house.
Hm. Why must it be an unfamliar place? I'd think that it'd be easier to use some place that you visit or dream of often (you'd have a clearer memory of the place, and it would appear in your dreams more frequently).

Thanks for the feedback, Abra. Habitually doesn't mean unfamiliar. I suppose anywhere is okay as long as you remember to do a reality check every time you physically go there. If it is a room in your own house, it would be a good idea to put a sign on the door "Do A Reality Check". I'll modify the original post to include your suggestion.
