      I need some suggestions

so i've been attempting wild for at least 2 weeks now. What i've noticed is that i can achieve SP to the point where i feel the numbness taking over my face and my whole body. But what im having trouble with is getting my mind to rest. Wilding makes me wide awake.

so do you guys just use auto suggestions and keep repeating them until you fall asleep or into a sleep/wake state? or what other methods do you use? counting ABC's? Numbers? etc. any suggestions would help. thanks

You want my advice for calming the mind? You have a few options here:

      1). Meditation:
I know, if you aren't into the hippy crap like me, meditation feels like a violation of your values. I tried it though for a while when I first started lucid dreaming to keep the head chatter down, and it worked. Maybe it will for you.

      2). Brainwave entrainment:
A lot of people on these forums don't beleive in it (probably due to the fact they tried ones aimed at lucid dreaming). Brainwave entrainment is however, proven, and some tracks on applications like Neuro-Programmer 2 can be very useful for calming the mind.

3). Calm down about lucid dreaming:
Thinking back, I remember how I felt when I first discovered lucid dreaming. I was excited all the time for about a week, maybe even two. It dominated my thoughts. It is essential to keep your mind calm in order to WILD - essential - and being too excited can impede your efforts.

You will eventually find that with meditation or brainwave entrainment you can find yourself in a crystal clear state of mind almost all the time. Keep at it, and good luck =).

If I could add some other clues:

Methods to make you more sleepy and less alerted:
      - If you WILD directly after bed try it after ~5h of sleep. Play with different delay time before going back to bed. Shorter time more chance of getting asleep.
      - If on back try different position - on side.

      - as for me after reaching numbness I kinda pretend that I am asleep. I make my breath heavy naturally and just observe. Actually that works too good because I usually loose consciousness

detroitLions1970 is right - don't get too excited. Also meditation is priceless. The more you are be able stop your inner speech the more you are open for your inner side. That doesn't sound spectacular but it is the key to some psychic phenomenons that I experienced while ago when meditating a lot.

Thanks to both of you. So after reaching numbness I should try to keep my mind clear right? Because after reaching it my mind seems to race and i think way too much. Any tips on meditation or tutorials on that?

yes try to clear your mind but at the same time if its too hard, then just be aware of what you're thinking about instead of getting lost in it or focusing too much on clearing your mind because sometimes the more you try not to think, the more you start thinking. The whole point is to be aware of whats going on and not falling asleep. In your case you're having trouble falling asleep so i would say try it with WBTB technique

      Or do I?

I know what Rahim is talking about, and I think I can help explain a little. This is just a method you should consider if you can't master meditation, or, like myself, don't have the time to.

When you are attempting your WILD don't try to actively erase all thoughts from your mind. Just be a passive observer. Let your thoughts flow freely, but keep yourself from taking part in them.

If you take an active role in your thought process it's much more difficult to fall asleep in general, let alone WILD.

Anywho, keep at it. I'm sure you two will have your first WILD eventually. It's just a matter of practice, seeing what works for you, and figuring out what doesn't.

I think i understand. So it's like let your thoughts pop up in your head but don't notice or take part in elaborating those thoughts. My mind would sometimes jump subjects and think a lot. So what i should do is just be aware of those thoughts but don't pay attention to them right?

      Yes, that's the basic idea.

I would suggest simple but powerful meditiation technique. This will train your mind and you will hopefully notice that your problem fades out. Do it 20min every evening before bed.
      - Sit comfortably - preferably in half lotos ( you put a small pillow under one of your bottom cheek to make it easier ) as this position enables better concentration. Keep stable straight posiotion but at the same time be relaxed with no tension.
      - Close your eyes and focus on where you are at that time. Anything else from the past or future is not important. Be grounded and pay attention to your lower body how you sit. Sense it.
      - The main task is to notice your thoughts at the very beginning and kill them immediately. When you realise that your mind has gone astray come back to previous point. Try to keep your mind perfectly clear as long as you can.

      Hope this will help.
