      A Subtle Reality Check

Hello everybody, a while ago i started integrating the habit of doing an RC every time I walk through a door.

However have failed to find one that is very obvious, I need one that I can do quick invisible and failsafe.

I did the "look at your hands" one, but when I did it in a dream I found it not working for me...

Do you guy's have some suggestions?

      Greets

When you check the time look twice, It will be different the second time if you are in a LD, Its quick easy and works well if you stumble apon a clock in a dream.

If you do a time-check, it's best if you've got a digital watch to begin with as they are meant to be pretty foolproof, but again, I'm not sure if this is the case when doing it non lucidly as opposed to consciously doing it.

Another thing to try when opening doors or just entering a new room is just to say in your mind "Am I dreaming?" and have a good look around the room taking in whats in the room and if it is what you expected to see.

I've got one that's quick and invisible, but probably not all that failsafe. A while ago, I saw a RC method used by WILDers who didn't want their RC to accidentally bring themselves out of sleep paralysis. Try pushing your tongue through your front teeth. It's totally invisible, but if you're the type that has the finger-through-palm method fail on them, then it too is likely to fail.

Like all concrete reality checks, this should only be used to reinforce the "Am I dreaming?" question. The mental RC (and subsequent increase in awareness) is what you're really after.

Just out of curiosity, why do you need it to be invisible?

Going back to the door thing, maybe try (when you're opening a door) to create the landscape on the other side of the door. In real life, of course, what's beyond the door is the next room, but in a dream you should be able to create what you want.

My favourite meathod of a subtle RC is to close one eye and check if you can see your nose. This has always indicated to me when I'm dreaming. Another good one is to plug your nose and see if you can breathe, if you do it smooth enough it just looks like you're scratching your nose.

I really like the idea of doing an RC everytime you walk through a door. I may just use that myself.

well at the same time, we have to try to not worry about what other people think because it's happened to me when doing a reality check in dreams. the whole finger through palm is reliable if your not that concerned about people. maybe you could disguise it as looking at a scab.

i never heard of the teeth one but it sounds reliable and atleast invisible

I don't like the teeth one because a common nightmare many people have is there Teeth falling out.

Sounds like just asking for a nightmare xD

Another one that I frequently use, is the following:

Close your mouth and breathe through your nose. While breathing, close your nasal passage so that you can't breathe at all anymore. In a dream, you won't be able to close the passage.

It works great for me, and it's totally invisible
