It seems to DILD, it's all about going to sleep and hoping you catch yourself in a dream. This means that you have to simply wait for a dream to happen. So WILD is the only technique where you can make yourself dream, right?

So is there no way to induce a DILD? Or do you just go to sleep hoping you'll "awake" inside of a dream?
