Nah, it won't make it any tougher. I take sleeping pills nearly every night to sleep and it doesn't effect my Lucid Dreaming at all. These sleeping pills are more or less nothing but diphenhydramine (Benadryl). It doesn't really help your chances, but it doesn't hurt your chances either. Good Luck with your dreaming btw! |

Benadryl and Lucid Dreaming
been having a lot of trouble sleeping for a variety of reasons... so i've been taking benadryl more frequently. not a ton, but... more.
anyway, the question is this... anyone know of any studies about how benadryl might affect your ability to attain lucidity? i would think it probably couldn't help... but who knows. i'm guessing it probably makes it tougher.

Hm, most sleeping pills induce sleep by depressing brain function as a whole. Therefore sleeping pills are widely known to suppress REM...at least, in the beginning.

I typically dislike anything with diphenhydramine in it. It's a histamine blocker that crosses the blood-brain barrier, which leads to its sedative effect. It also interferes with acetylcholine levels, and I can't usually get anything out of a night with it, and I feel sorta groggy in the morning.

Doesn't do shit for my LDing, though. Doesn't hamper, doesn't help, at least in my experience.

Ya benedril shouldnt effect anything, by itself atleast haha.

Hmm...I've never really had a problem. Of course weed is suppose to suppress REM as well, but it doesn't effect me either. It may be because my body has gotten used to them. I do use sleepng pills nearly every night, so... I would suggest trying it out fleee and see if it gives you problems with recall.
