      Lucid with no Dream?

This morning, I woke up after getting 4 hours of sleep, and fell into a half-sleep about an hour later (I laid in bed the entire time).
At some point in this half-sleep, I remember seeing only blackness and performed the "hold nose and breathe" RC. I moved my hand to my nose and held it, and could breathe. I was sure that I was fully covering my nose. So, I didn't actually move my hand to my nose, I just thought I did (thus I must be dreaming), yet when I became lucid all I saw was the blackness, and then I realized I was in my bed and opened my eyes (in reality).

      Can anyone explain?
(if you don't understand some of this account, tell me and I'll try to clarify, but I'm having a hard time articulating it)

I felt like I was standing up in the "dream".
      Why did this happen?

There shouldn't be a difference between "realizing that you're dreaming" and "realizing that you're in bed". That should be a given. It sounds like you were in a dream, but there was no visual stimulus yet. Some people patiently wait until something appears in the blackness and a new dream scene unfolds.

That happens to me when I've induced sleep paralysis. When that happens I open my eyes (dream eyes) and I'm usually in my room already in a dream.

You just have to start visualising objects around you now.

Start with your hands. Concentrate as hard as you can - Just think: My hands are in front of my face, now just imagine what they should look like.
