      Need a little help!

So, like more people around here, I've been having a little difficulty with actually attaining Lucidity.

My dream recall has been amazing lately! I've been using some Aids, as applejuice, Vitamin B, and Valerian Root, and I've been remembering dreams very vividly. Now, my problem is, I've been trying to Lucid Dream for about 2 months, yet I still havent attained Lucidity.

I'm wondering what my next step should be. I've been trying WILD/WBTB, and MILD before I go to sleep. I just can't seem to be aware enough in my dream to get lucid somehow.

What should my next move be?

Looks like we're all in the same boat.

Have you been doing reality checks?

So any tips from more experienced dreamers?

Well there's no magic bullet, at least I don't think so. But what I've found works for me?

I use a digital watch to remind me to do an R.C every hour on the hour, although i don't get lucid that often, I beleive it does help.

NAPS. not just any old nap. Take a couple of deep breaths, put in some earplugs and don an eyemask (I do this because I know that anything I see or hear will be a dream) and lay back on a couch or your bed comfortably. Just lay there, listen to your inner sounds, your breathing, soon enough you'll wake up in sleep paralysis (you'll know very well when this happens..there's no doubting) and continuing with whatever sensations you're feeling, you'll slip into a dream. Don't stress too much about moving, or doing a WILD perfectly, just experiment. Honestly, this probably won't work for a few times, but eventually I'm sure it will. Try to place your nap/ dream-time in the middle of the day so you're more aware. Also, think of it as an adventure into your own head, not as "I need to get lucid, this is frustrating". My mindset is: "I'm going to lay down and explore what my mind has to offer for an hour or two..I am in control, I am aware".

I suggest you continue dream journaling as best you can, this is key, keep playing with your supplements (but know that your mind is still perfectly capable without them), I've been following your progress there, I take some too, and just enjoy whatever you can. Focus on your-non-lucid dreams and soon enough, by becoming so familiar with them, and re-reading them, you will indeed realize your dreaming.

Don't give up! And don't stress.. enjoy the trip to awareness.

As a side note, I just purchased a REMdreamer, a machine designed to signal you as you dream in REM sleep, it senses the eye movement. I'll try to keep you up to speed on my progress with that. Should arrive in a week or so. I had an older version and had some interesting results. If you shouldn't find success, it might be a worthwhile investment. That's a whole other subject though.

Best of luck and perseverance..it can be done!

      Thanks for your reply mate!

I'll surely try the napping thing. Though I can only do it in the weekends, because I work during weekdays from 9 till 5. I also have a sleepingmask, so I'll wear that. Good idea about the 'So if I see anything, I'll know I'm dreaming'.

Also, I must say I've been tempted to buy the REM Dreamer... Untill I saw the price of it. I'm sure its a great investment, but I just don't have the money for it (I'm a student, working as a intern this whole year.) I'd greatly appreciate you keeping me informed on your progress with the REMdreamer. It might be a (little weird) christmas present or something.

No problem. I hope it works for you, I have faith in the nap attempts.

There's a thread in the lucid aids section about the REMdreamer, called "REMdreamer works, sort of"...I plan on bumping it to the front once I get mine.

I'm excited as we speak, with renewed efforts my dreams are fairly easily being recalled, not all, but most..and I had some apple juice last night! just about to try a WBTB combined with a WILD right now (with my mask and plugs) (I feel very lucky to not be on a 9-5 schedule..its admirable you are).

      Best of luck..keep me posted.

I'm not gonna lie, man, I've only been training for a couple weeks, but I just had my first LD 2 nights ago, and another last night. I'm looking forward to another one tonight.

For me, inducing one is simply a matter of belief.

Have you ever read the Secret? all about the law of attraction and how you can do anything you want, get anything you want.

While you may not believe in it, that's the mindset I try to put myself in every night as I go to sleep. I recite a mantra, and not just believe that I will have a LD that night, but know it for an absolute certainty. Like, there's no question. it's like saying the sun will rise and set, that we survive by breathing, that the sky is blue. It's not possible. It just IS.

Having this level of belief is definitely benificial in attaining lucidity.

If you're the religious type, pray for one. All that matters is that you'll know it will happen.

I actually did read The Secret. In short, The Secret's conclusion is; Mind is stronger than body.

Though whenever I try to simply... Make myself believe that I actually WILL have a LD that night, I can keep on repeating it over and over, but there'll always be that doubt in the back of my mind. 'Do I have enough experience to LD?' 'But.. Can I REALLY LD?' 'But... but... but...'

Did you have the same problem? And maybe even a way around it?

Also, let me know how your WBTB/WILD went, bro!

Last night, I did take my usual Vitamin B, and Valerian, no applejuice, cause I had run out. I'll get some new today. Yet unfortunately, I recalled no dreams. This might also be because I had a really heavy evening (went to a concert, and got home really late), and I overslept this morning, so I didn't have enough time to sit down, and recall it.
